[#11502652]

I have just managed to crack the mounting tab on the back of my 10 week old Edge Explore. I see there are 3rd party replacement mounts that glue over the old broken one, but all the info is "I fitted one of these..." and no "10 years later it is still fine."

Can anyone reassure me?

The current races are kits just seem to be glue. Was the rapper in the kit, or self sourced?

Was in the kit but tbh with modern glues I wouldn't be worried I think the self tapper was back when they were in infancy and trying to prove it was a viable repair

I did this to my edge 510 at Tour de Ben about 9 years ago. I used a 3d printed mount, probably the raceware one and used some araldite to glue it on..... Still being used problem free but a bit higher than it was originally

For 10 weeks old, I'd be seeing if Garmin would do anything before invalidating the warranty.

Dogears has worked on mine for years. It’s glued and screwed. Metal too.

I have emailed Garmin, but I don't expect a swift resolution, so I have ordered a Raceware thing from Merlin.

Superglue held the Raceware one on strongly enough to let me snap the tabs on it when I crashed and smacked my edge 200 with my knee, for a second time😖

I was thinking about that inevitability. Did you mange to remove it to fit a new one?

WHen I broke the tabs on my 810 after a couple of months Garmin replaced it on warranty.

(Not sure if it was a known fault though because they broke very easily).

At the very worst if you did it again you could file the replacement unit off or even if your In a rush and feeling brave.....holesaw.

I've had this. Fortunately the only lasting damage from ploughing shoulder first into a tree. Garmin sorted it quickly for free.

I had a crash and cracked off the back tabs off my edge 530 (a 1 month old replacement for one I bought in May '19).

Emailed Garmin and they are sending out a replacement refurbished edge FOC once they receive mine. Very impressed with the service.
