Any advice? Our son has just come down with it. We have both had it before, so no worries there, but wanted some canny advice....
Don't give him aspirin (specifically, its a really bad idea with chicken pox), no pills unless his temp gets properly high, calamine lotion as above, keep his nails short.
I've never heard it advised, but I wonder if Prep H would stop the itching.
I had it when I was a pup, but still got it again at 33!. It's the worst I've ever felt, The doc reckoned I must have had a relatively mild case when I was young.
IME Cal lotion just dries them out and makes them even itchier. Wife is a nurse and they don't recommend it at the hospital any more.

Friend got it when he was 50, came down with it at work.
The swelling was so rapid his throat constricted so fast and so much, no one could get a tube down him fast enough.
He died in the office.
