Following on from a recent post.

I intend visiting CC a bit in the new year and beyond, and also intend to buy some wider 740-750 bars for Xmas.

Who uses something similar at CC. Is it a real problem or just a couple of sections?

Cheers

Yes. You might get stuck between trees in a couple of places, but you won't die.

I made it round Cannock with 750mm wide bars, clipped them once at the start of the red run and hit a tree with my shoulder later on - but that was my fault (was quite nervy riding with them at some parts).

I find 711 bars pretty damn wide... but 750 ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I can only think of two areas that you actually won't get through, there is a bit on follow the dog where two trees are very close, loads of chunks out of the trees on both side, and the werewolf minor gradient will be tight.

I run 780's round chase pretty much weekly and there are only about 4 places to watch. They're all in pretty boring places, not on descents or anything.

Its normally only the high rise & wide bars which are a problem, trees are wider the higher they grow, low rise bars give you and extra 10-20mm of clearance.

Really? I would have thought at bar height it was the other way round. Either way, I think I got my 785s (which are stupid) stuck twice, once on some woodwork betwixt trees and once on the Weirwolf Drop. I didn't die, or fall off. I did laugh.

Was sick of clipping my bars on those pesky trees planning on taking my axe to them later on should be ok if you running around 120 mm up front.

I think you're a bit out with your calculations, last time I was there I took my tape measure and found I had at least 11.0mm clearance whilst using high rise bars 710.5mm bars, this was measured at about 1mtr up the tree.

+1 On what GW said. Had to do that a few times at places. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Honestly you will be fine. Haven't had problems on Weirwolf drop before?

Due to issues of bark getting ripped of tree trunks, a new permit system is now in effect for people with bars wider than 720mm. Just don't park at a visitors center if you don't want to get caught.

We're almost doing a 'what bar for....' thread here aren't we? No really, we are...

I despair.

I don't ride at Cannock any longer as I'm unsure how wide my bars are. I have blue grips though.

I've got 780's and no probs, a few narrow places near the start but you'll probably get caught up in post Xmas 'I got a new bike from Halfords for Xmas and going to ride it and the only trail centre for 100 miles' queue for most of the way around....

or stuck behind lots of wannabe FIVE owners on hire bikes

No problems with wide bars, but I do struggle with my arse in a couple of places.

I'd love to ride follow yer dad and that minky trail, but as I run Jones bars on my bikes,I've been told I'm not allowed.I got stopped, and told off by a bloke in white trainers, who clearly knew what he was on about.
