Tyres are changed to landcruisers, spare bike is fettled nerves are getting worse ,is everyone else prepared?
Well, I discovered last night that I've lost one of the two front mech hanger fixing bolts from my cross bike and it appears that the replacements have to come from Canada. apart from that then, yes, I'm not prepared at all.
On the upside, I bought some rather nice sportful no-rain arm warmers.
Errr, not sure judging by the butterflies... I have fitted my Land Cruisers though...
I've ditched the landcruisers for something lighter and grippier. Not fit at all, so will take my chances with an extra tube and try to enjoy the descents.
I'm not racing, but i have suitable bike to take with me now, and i'll be on Pen-Y-Ghent somewhere with a cowbell.

If you can have a spare set of legs and lungs ready to hand me by that point, that'd be useful too. ๐
What times are you all aiming for ?I would love to beat 5 hours but my best is 5.27
Which way down pen-y-ghent do you go?
Think I'd rather carry up the steep side and splatter myself on the other.
Up and down the same way from Horton on the bit that is
bridleway at the bottom
That's some punishing climb.
Last time I walked it the top was in fog and it seemed to take hours.
Good luck to all.
Yes it is you just look forward to riding down it like a loon . God knows how the quick boys do it in 19 mins though I was pleased with scrapping under 25 mins last year

Really hoping to get sub 4. I've come close but it's always been tantalisingly out of reach...
Get to Pen-y-Ghent and the fast boys are just turning out onto the main road, an hour in front of me by that point. ๐
First time last year so didn't know what to expect and was a smidge over 5 hours, including 20 minutes on 2 punctures and a dropped chain battling the headwind up Chapel-Le-Dale. Better trained and prepared this year and now know what to expect so aiming for somewhere around the 4 1/2 hour mark.
Ive been prepping bikes for the past month, gone through a dozen sets of land cruisers, organised the pasta party for Friday, got boxes of gels, tubes, got spare wheels, spare bikes, organising support crew, preparing the bottles of floke (flat coke) for pen-y-ghent, organised a couple of lads to film the event, team tactics discussed (probably ignored)
and now sitting back hoping that the Alps training the lads have done will get us the team win and the vets team win.
but Hope will be sooooo hard to beat.
Ready as possible. Hopefully the 3 peaks will have eroded somewhat since I last did it almost 20 years ago. My bike is probably a similar weight, I, however am not.
Afraid not CrazyLegs, i'll be busy making far too much noise ๐
First one, so I've no idea if I'm ready!
Good luck everyone look out for the big bloke lining up near the back on a yellow Dave Lloyd crosser and in Somer Valley C C kit it will be the only time I see you all before you chase the lead van up the road in front of me
Edric - I'll look out for a fellow "almost enjoying it" - I'll be in Archer.
Good luck Edric (again). Look out for Simon Burgess - he'll be up near the front somewhere.
Chas.
Simon had a good ride last year lets hope for a repeat
Would also love sub 4hr, but 14 mins slow last time and def not in condition to gain that. Anything under 4.30 I reckon.
