Are inline cable adjusters worth fitting?

In the olden days most cables featured inline adjustments as well as at the shifter and the mech. These days all you get is shifter end adjustment. ย I have seen aftermarket adjusters and was wondering what the STW hive mind thought about adding them just to give an extra tweak?

Full length outer was kind of the death of them.ย  Even more so now with internal routing, so where would the adjuster go?ย  And what job is it doing that the adjuster at the shifter isn't.ย

If your indexing is so far out you need more than one adjuster then there is probably something wrong with the initial set up or another issue like a misaligned hanger.

I've never felt the need to fit them, not saying they don't work, but honestly, I've never thought my day would be improved with an additional way to adjust the tension on a cable.ย

Ever

Absolutely no need for one if your shifter has the adjuster built in.

Only place for them is road front mechs (or some rear) that don't have cable adjust in the lever.

^^This^^ they're most useful on a Road/Gravel bike to add 'on the fly' adjustment where you can reach it (as cable exits the bar-tape) without stopping. There's basically no point on an MTB, even if the rear mech lacks an adjuster because the shifter will have one, plus (IME) MTBerists will tend to stop to faff with their gears rather than try to dial them in while moving...ย ย

I like them just because they are a heck of a lot easier to twiddle.
