Looking at getting a giant tcx2 I'll be swaping out my canti mount tricross for this to be a do it all bike with 2 sets of wheels 1 for hooning around trails and cross racing the other for fast commuting/triathlons
I'm no pro and I'm not that fast at ither but I enjoy competing and beating my pb's hens no specific bike for each event.
So my question lies are disc brakes allowed in triathlons? Still doing sprints ATM
Ive done sprints on allsorts. Mtbs (with disks) fixies with mudguards and evn the odd tt bike
No one really cares at sprints so long as its not dangerous or an obvious advantage like a faring
That's what I was thinking I did one last year on the spesh and nobody checked over the bikes for regs but didn't see any discs
As above I don't think that people mind for sprints
I did an oly at the weekend with a disc equipped road bike. It was a triathlon England sanctioned event, it was fine.
In fact, my heavy disc equipped commuter was only 1min 6 seconds behind the winner who was ten years my junior (i just suck at running).
Did a sprint with it last year as well with no bother but can't remember if that was a sanctioned event.
Short answer, yes. Discs are fine.
I reckon you'll have a great time. It was only my second triathlon but both to.es I've found them well organized and full of friendly people.
