[#6543506]

Probably a stupid question but I keep seeing a guy commuting on a lapierre full sus and he just looks like a Jeremy Kyle type scallie.

It screams to me not being legit as he's got weird stickers on it and daft mudguards.

I'm trying to suss out his route as I'm sure it's nicked but I can't track him down to a certain time / place in order to tell the police.

There are loads of websites offering 0% finance on new bikes, some over 36 or even 48 months, paid for like that you'd be surprised how affordable these bikes become.

The best one I've seen is the 2015 Giant Reign 650b with Pikes, dropper post, Shimano everything for about £47 a month if you're prepared to have the bike for 3 years....which wouldn't exactly be a hardship.

Same site has the new 160mm Cube Stereo for £33 a month if you don't mind Manitou suspension.

Don't jump to conclusions, not everybody has 4k in their pocket to drop on a new bike each year but that doesn't mean they're not catered for with various finance deals.

Guy used to come in our shop with a spicy 916 carbon that if I saw out on the Street I'd be convinced it was nicked, from his attire. till the boss informed me he'd bought the bike from us....

Book/cover and all that.

Aye I know what you are saying.

At work, I never judge a book by its cover I'm just being the opposite with this.

Think I may find a way of pulling in and chatting to him and ask him a few questions as an interested fellow MTBer 😀

Stop him and ask how many times the frame has snapped. If he says "never" you know he's nicked it....... #truestory

Hard to judge people these days. I look like a badly dressed scarecrow most days but doesn't mean I'm skint. Just lucky enough not to have to dress smartly for anyone 😉

You said he was commuting, therefore a reasonable assumption he has a job?
That's a much better starting point than the scallies on Jeremy Kyle.

Job = likelier to afford bike.

Seen some £1k+ MTBs locked up at stations, complete with commute style mud guards, chunky padded seats and commuter tyres. Don't think they're nicked, they probably just don't have a clue. Evident from the poor locks used. Though one I saw every day I expected to not see again after it had been nicked, but there it was again always the next day.

Also curious about the guy commuting on the DH rig. Old bike, but had the dual crown forks, DH sized brakes, braided cables and Minion tyres... which were worn to bald on the surface.

Never mind all this, "I'm rough as a badger's arse, me" stuff, more pertinently where has Deviant seen these finance deals?! 😉

Ask him to write Lapierre down. If he writes LaPierre then he is a dribbling, illiterate idiot. Won't help you tell if the bike is stolen though. Sorry.

Is it a blue Zesty 214? If so, it's mine. Can you ask him if I can have it back?
