[#6152253]

the BB on the GF's bike is shot on the non-drive side.

the axle is 24mm. i can't find much info on sizes when looking on line.

which is the hardiest version out there? or is it worth stumping up for a Hope BB?

cheers in advance....

Not mtb, but I use an Ultegra external BB on my road FSA cranks so i would say they are compatible with most standard fits

I used mine with a Shimano BB. But, it seems to be a bit weird, I sold my FSA BB to someone who couldn't get their cranks to work with Shimano, and the BB off my cranks worked with theirs. Really marginal tolerances or something?

Fsa and shimano cranks are both nominally 24mm spindles although fsa seem to be a much tighter fit.
However the carbon ones (with a single crank bolt) use slightly (3mm) narrower spacing and need correspondingly narrower cups.Which means if you try and use a shimano BB they go really tight/crush the bearings.
The alloy ones (with 2 pinch bolts) fit ok as you can adjust the preload with the end cap.

hmm... talking MTB cranks.

did try fitting an old Shamno BB i have lying around, but the spindle was a touch too big/BB a touch to small.

Tried that, didn't work. Ended up with the bearings smashed into to cup after de- & regreasing the bearings.
Seems that not a single shop in Munich stocks FSA.
