The 20 minute time allowance has now dropped to 15, definitely worth bearing in mind if you don't bag tickets at 6.30
Good luck to anyone trying to put 6 peoples details down in 15 minutes.
Wow! That sold out pretty quick didn't it. It can't have been more than 5 secs after they went on sale that I tried to get a tic for the enduro and it said unable to allocate. Managed to grab one for the intro though. So, pretty happy. Hope they don't start me too early, I drank far too much on the sat night this year. Mebe have to control myself this time.
Intro tickets back @ 6:53, the others sporadically reappearing. First time I've seen marathon all reserved this early.
Our group nabbed at least 16 ,only needed 6 so more released soon. Imagine quite a few people did the same.
Hi
me and my two mates are in for the sport.
First time!!!
Looking forward to it
Cheers
Steve
Good luck to anyone trying to put 6 peoples details down in 15 minutes.
Thanks but I didn't need luck, i had a spreadsheet .
Entries went live at 06:29:20 ish, bit cheeky!
Managed to get tickets for the Marathon and Sport, same events i did this year.
Got 3 sport entries with no drama. 632 ish and finished by 640 so entering 6 peoples detils would have been fine in 15 mins IMO.
Hope the folks on here that didn't get tickets at 630 checked back at 645 , 7am etc and managed to nab some.
Si
We don't event attempt to get tickets for the 7 stage events, 5 of us on the intro so happy with that. Lots of unhappy people on facebook!
Well that was a fairly horrendous experience! Up at 5:30, laptop sorted, brew and iPhone next to me with clock showing actual time - refresh at 6:30 on the nose...click full enduro tickets x4 get message saying reduce ticket number...then bang by about 6:30:35 fully gone, same as sport, tried again at 6:45 same thing crappy message finally got us in for the sport at about 6:50! Gutted we couldn’t get into the main event as last time we did the sport by the time you arrived back the village was half packed up and you felt like a third class citizen. But super chuffed to get it!
At 06.31 Enduro was showing sold out and wouldn't let me allocate any tickets for the Sport.
Went back around 6.50 and got Sport tickets no problem.
So now we have all of Fri/Sat to drink, plan race strategy, drink, discuss line choices and drink.
I'm a bit disappointed to now be classed as a Veteran though.
15 min time limit was ridiculous
15 min time limit was ridiculous
As above, we used a spreadsheet. Copy and pasting 6 people takes less than 5 mins.
Managed to get tickets for the Intro, refreshed just before 6.30 to find it all live so got a good start. Been wanting to go to Ard Rock for a few years now but something else always came up, happy to finally be heading up and riding it.
Ticket in basket, all details filled out, website crashes taking payment, everything sold out. Great system. Not. 🤬
Laptop had a sad but managed to get four Sport Tickets using my phone. Not ideal but managed to enter everyone's details with 8mins to spare, that includes panic transcribing folks details from WhatsApp and emails! 😂 Don't know what you lot are all complaining about, loads of time 15mins, especially when the panic adrenaline kicks in 🤣
Everyone's name is probably spelt wrong mind you... 😂
my wife is the emergency contact for everyone in our group 😀
Everyone’s name is probably spelt wrong mind you…
Yeah we've got some interesting bike names.
Me and the boy are in for the Sprint yay !!👏👏👏
15 min time limit was ridiculous
Being able to enter 6 people is ridiculous. At least they've took it down from 8 tbf.
It's the only thing about AR entry that ever bothered me, should be 1 person 1 entry. If yer mates can't get out of bed, bugger them.
This is the first year I haven't entered, hope it's as awesome as ever.
Yup, tickets definitely came on around 10 seconds early, only one of the five of us going in my group managed to get through to the tickets page for the full enduro.
Logged on at 6:29 and picked 2 up - although the wife (who is very new to MTB) messed up slightly and is doing the Sprint rather than the Intro
Everyone’s name is probably spelt wrong mind you…
Yeah we’ve got some interesting bike names.
That bit was easy Santa Cruz ctrl+c, Ctrl+v x 4.
Now to all arrive in our VW transporters. Cliched or what! 🤣
in for the sprint.
will be there drinking beer 🙂
Lots of unhappy people on facebook!
That's not because of Ard Rock though.
Reserve list for me since people got too greedy and ordered more than they needed
Managed to get 2x Sat Enduro tickets. I honestly don't know how all the tickets go in ten seconds. I was refreshing constantly from 6:29 and missed out on first round. It wasn't 15 mins when they were released either. It was about 17 mins. I sat there refreshing from 6:43 hoping...then I got lucky! 🙂 All good in the end! Hope the sun shines like this year.
Three tickets sorted for the sport at 6.30 am no real drama as has been the case for the last 4 years ..
Truth be told unless you are part of the cooperate side or a marshal from previous events or friend of organiser or top 5 finisher you have balls all chance of getting a place in the main event .. I know one marshal secured his tickets ! Sunday for the main event ... stinks a bit don't it
got my 5 sunday sport tickets no problem, didnt attempt the saturday enduro,
a couple of mates got in too as back up, and kept place until all done, Im glad i stuck them on a sheet and copied from my ipad, under 5 mins to spare
ps. cant see the marathon selling out, i'd be tempted to do it on the saturday on an XC bike but a bit too much at £58 to ride on regular bridleways, spoke to a few dissapointed peeps who expected some of the ard rock stages included last year..
whens boltby and ardmoors on sale :0)
30th Nov for Boltby
thanks JLittle, i'm hoping it stays the same size although i'm told ardrock are on board this year.
Managed to get a Saturday ticket, happened to refresh just before 9.30 and they where live. I'll be solo so getting one ticket is easier I guess.
Really? Ardrock are overseeing Boltby next year?
In terms of selling out...if there are 1500 places on the Saturday Enduro - say 100 already allocated?
so 1400 available. Only takes 234 people to click on and reserve 6 tickets for it to sell out
That’s not a lot of chances to buy a ticket
I suspect that quite a few are pre allocated to sponsors, top temas marshals etc,
Sky gave one to Dave Jenvey last year.
Only managed an entry to the marathon pretty gutted I was up early and everything...on the waiting list for the full enduro, so fingers crossed....
At least I can ride 40 miles in the Dales with my Dad - not so bad, but I really wanted to race the hardtail category....
Did Boltby for the first time last year and it is a good size, this came in to play when they had to close a stage due to an injured rider.
I believe there is possibly a family connection between the two event organisers (the organiser of boltby is the father of the organiser of AR). Don't hold me to that though!
I hadn’t done the arithmetic on numbers of entrants vs multiple purchases before but that makes sense and for me, confirms what I’ve thought since they started allowing multiple purchases. Multiple purchases are not a good thing for the event so far as reach is concerned.
The thing is without multiple entries if you have to risk buying a ticket and your mates not getting one, then would you go on your own? I wouldn't, infact I'd be decidedly less inclined to consider it if there was a high probability that my mates wouldn't get it.
Im not going to just ride the Ardrock Enduro sport, I'm going for a ride with my mates at Ardrock.
Making the Full Enduro one entry and pushing the race aspect would be one thing but I think a scramble for single tickets for the rest of the non-race events would be off putting for many who view it as a weekend to ride with friends. Perhaps limiting it to 4 tickets rather than 6 per order might be enough to widen the reach.
I think you would also suddenly find a big market for people buying single tickets and making a mark up selling them to people who are going to have go on their own if they can't get a ticket for a friend
since they started allowing multiple purchases.
I'm pretty sure they've allowed them since year one mainly as I've managed to buy multiple tickets every time,* heck the first time i even managed it about 3 months after tickets went on sale though that said it hadn't been lauded by the meeja yet.
*this has involved much spamming of f5 by a number of us in recent years
Yes, one happy hippy, I'd gladly ride myself. I've did every one bar last year, entered but had to bail out, always entered singly, mates have done the same, always find someone to have a blether to!.
For me, it's not about a ride with your mates, the big enduro is about racing, flat out on fast as **** terrain, on trails I can't ride for the rest of the year. I can take or leave the social side of it, the beer etc, the I'd rather stay home and race both days, but 4 hours drive is a bit much.
Ive lost count of the amount of folk that either try to sell their entry, ride half arsed cos they didn't really want to, but mate entered them, or started and shat it after 2 stages cos they're out of their league.
I'd love to see them having some kind of qualifying standard, dunno how it'd work tbh, like megavalanche? Who knows, but the amount of mincers in the enduro is madness. Similarly, intro n sport full of good riders that never entered quick enough.
It's a race, at the end of the day.
I have a certain amount of sympathy for the view that "It's a race" and that "the amout of mincers in the Enduro is madness".
However, if it was purely marketed as a race, not as a "festival" and there was a qulifying level to make sure that only those interested in racing could take part then I'd lay money on it not being anywhere near as succesful and therefor risking not happening.
The issues with the last couple of years UK Enduro series races would seem to support that view.
When I read that Ard Rock 2019 was potentially going ot be part of the national series I was a little surprised that they thought that the current format (everyone has a chance at a ticket no minimum standard of riding or fitness required so you risk getting people like me entering) was compatible with a round of a national race series.
It was one of the reasons I went for the Sunday evet not the Saturday one.
The rider briefing in 2017 also stressed that the idea was to enjoy yourself an not over estimate your ability. Is that what is usally said at race briefings? I'm surprised if so.
