Have been dipping in and out of the Appennino mountains the last few months. Mostly around Liguria, Tuscany and Emilia Romagna... Dropped back over to Tuscany again now, somewhere north of Florence.

What a fantastic playground these hills are for bikes of all persuasions.... big climbs, quiet roads. Rooty, rocky trails.

Here's a ridge line trail from the other day.....

I'm of the view that there's a lot of underestimated riding in Europe, as well as hills that are fantastic but little known.

I think we all get hooked into the 'big name' places too much.

Me too. The only area I know is the stuff that “The White Room” take us to, but there seems to be loads of it with hardly anyone on it.

Liguria back in the day

You still can, just avoid Finale!

Spent September through to Christmas in age around Finale. Even ended up guiding for a few days for friends as they were so busy....

In my opinion it's completely jumped the shark now. Traffic jams on the way out of town due to the number of shuttles. Up to 80€ a day for a day's shuttling.

Go a few km along the coast in either direction or a little inland and you'll find awesome natural riding and no sodding shuttles!
