Could someone recommend an Android app for zonal heart rate training in the gym with a non-smart static bike? I have a bluetooth heart rate monitor.

It would be great if the app would alert me if I need to slow down or speed up my effort etc.ย It would a bonus as well if the app could help calculate HR zones and do an FTP test. The static bike has power in watts but is not exactly a Wattbike ๐Ÿ™

Thanks!

An FTP test is just going as hard and as constantly as you can for 20min, whatever is says your average watts are at the end x 0.95 is (roughly) your FTP. Then try again next week a bit harder until you hit a week when you cant finish it.

Heart rate as a measure of intensity is a bit rubbish, for example in an FTP test it will start off low and probably not level off until 10minutes in. If it levels off earlier then you've gone too hard too early. Conversely working really hard for a short period barley changes it (eg lifting weights).

I'd just go with whatever the bike tells you, and try to get the same bike each week.

As a short term one just train to the Watts? I use that more when following sufferfest etc. HR is something to see after, if your watts are up chances are your HR is too
