I had a great day with Aosta Valley Freeride in the summer. I haven't seen them mentioned on here before - they are well worth a visit.
My friend and I did a day with them on the way down to Finale Ligure. Everybody knows how good Finale is, it says a lot about Aosta that the day we spent there was one of the best of our trip.
The valleys in Aosta are at a fairly low altitude but the peaks are high and the scenery is epic. We did a descent which was over 2000 vertical metres back into town. Fabrizio and Max the guides are two of the friendliest guys you could meet. They are very proud of where they come from and their local knowledge is great.
If you are looking for somewhere a bit different then Aosta is well worth a visit. If you make it that far then check out the Cafe du Velo as well!
Their website and facebook page are full of great pictures.

Cool... Never heard about other riding on that side, visited Pila a while back and it is absurdly good, and you've got La Thuile just up the valley too so there's a couple of great resorts to hang a trip on. Also, while we were there basking in the sun everyone else was drowning in morzine.
I've been enjoying their Instagram feed recently.
Looking forward to getting out there next summer.
The guys said they could do a 2 week holiday and not ride the same trail twice and I believed them.
Even if you can't make a full week it is a great stop on a road trip. Aosta is an hour from Chamonix, hour and a half from Verbier, 2 hours from Bourg St. Maurice. Even Finale is less than three hours away.
