Fitted the headset and the underside of the crown race is bevelled not flat. This means that there is a gap {can't be any more than a couple of mm}when fitted. I have a spare headset to make sure I wasn't using a crown race from another headset but thats the same to.Seems bizarre that the crown of the fork can't sit flush because of the beveled underside.
Anyone else using this headset and is this normal? have had a few different fork frame combinations and never come across this before.
Yup, currently got them on two bikes, great headsets (one is 5yrs old).
Just looked at one of them and there is a ~1mm 'gap' between the top of the fork crown and the lower headset cup.
I guess the benefit is that it makes removing the crown race pretty easy.
Yeah that is true just wanted to check.Cheers
