Having realised that Racface, Shimano and Blackspire rings are actually made of gold (prices are just absurd) has anyone used the SSC chainring set? Same material, though there are no pins or shifter plates but at £37 compared to ca. £90 I thought they may be worth a punt especially for winter riding. Any opinions / experience of these rings appreciated.

ta,

andy

well they look like they have pins to me, though I can't see any ramps though.
and they actually look more like FSA rings to be...

[edit: Though seeing them like this next to each other, it's obvious they aren't like for like]

Was very tempted the other week but as I already had a new middle MiddleBurn ring, I bought the inner and outer to match it. Might try them at some point though.

I've gotten fed up with chocolate chain rings that cost as much as gold so I've gone for Deore rings. Made of steel so last a lot longer and only about 20 quid total for a small and a middle.
Might be a couple of grams heavier but about 30 pounds lighter!
