Hey
im waiting on a road bike wheel build but the builder cant get hold of Black Sapim CX rays. Ive been offered http://www.pillarspoke.com/
PSR X-TRA1422 as a replacement but never heard of them.
anyone got good or bad reports?
or should i just use silver spokes on my otherwise black and white bike?
Pillar's ti spokes are used extensively by weight weenies, build a very flexy wheel, but extremely light, depends on your priorities. The XTRA-1422s are marginally heavier than CX-Rays, so probably slightly stiffer, what about the XTRA-1420s, which are nearly identical? Out of interest are you in the UK, and who's your source? Half wondered about trying the ti ones sometime!
If you can't get CX-Rays, a more 'mainstream' option is DT Aerolites, which are very similar, or Revolutions are the same weight and vastly cheaper. Fatigue life is slightly lower, and less aero, if you're bothered about such things...
Strada are the ones offering me Pillar's no idea if they usually carry them though
