I'm looking at getting a new bike bag and like the sound of the Ground Effect Body Bag. Has anyone got or used one? Any opinions?

Given it is different to a regualar bike bag as you leave the rear wheel in, is this a good thing or not? Or should I just get a more regular bike bag?

Any advice would be appreciated given it is rather hard to try these things before you buy.

used one for about 5 years now, they are great, but a tight fit for my large enduro, although it just about fits, ive padded the sides of mine with 10mm foam and not had any damage up to now

yeah i've got one, had it for around 7 years. I use it mainly for keeping my bike in other peoples cars/flats and i've used it on a plane with some additional cardboard padding. It folds up really small too, so you can throw the cardboard away at the other end and put just put the body-bag in a rucksack.

It is a tight fit with MTBs though, might have to take the bars off to get it in fully (I just leave them sticking out though).

yep, had one for 6 years, and it's been fad ๐Ÿ™‚ Not had the most use, but the max i had in it was one complete bike (though with wheels and seat off, and a fs frame in there too, all inside a bike box, then the bike box inside the body bag - that was back from NZ ๐Ÿ™‚

all other uses have involved putting the bike in a bike box, then getting the bike box in the body bag. You usually have to cut down one corner of the bike box and make the box a little smaller, but you get the additional protection of the box. never had any damage to any bike using this method ๐Ÿ™‚

have had damage to frames when just using a box in its own...

Excellent, thanks for the responses so far.

It sounds like it might be a tight fit getting a medium Yeti ASR in without taking the handlebars off though. I was hoping it would defo be ok.

Previously I had a Planet-X bag which was massive, but I still had to take the bars off which was a tad frustrating. I guess taking off the rear wheel, would free up the room though?
