Just wondering if anybody could give me a real world report of upgrading to XTR 1x12 with the 10-51 cassette - I’m quite keen to upgrade from 1x11 and possibly to include changing to the new XTR brakes as well, but I’m undecided as to whether I can justify the cost.
Cheers!

I might be interested in your XTR 11sp kit 😉
Hi,
I've just changed my Eagle GX shifter and derailleur to XTR. Still running the GX cassette. First impressions are that shifting is much quieter/smoother, the lever throw is less and it generally feels more 'refined,' as I suppose you'd expect. I've only had it out for one brief ride but there were no problems at all shifting on the GX Eagle cassette.
Snap, xtr 12 speed mech and shifter running an eagle cassette here. Done to save changing my hubs. I’m also runnning an 11 speed chain still.
Imo the new xtr is very very good. Lovely crisp shifting and their best shifter feel to date. Mech has been faultless so far, maybe 20 rides or so.
I have DT350 hubs so can get the micro spline free hub for it. Can keep the XX1 chainset and change the chainring for a larger one - so it should be fairly simple although not cheap! Although of course the 1X11 kit and Guide RSC brakes should be easy enough to sell on..
Shifter and mech on a gx cassette here aswell. Works a treat
If mixing XTR 12 speed with SRAM Eagle, do you need to swap the shifter and derailleur together, or can you get away with just swapping the shifter?
I ask as I’m quite happy with my Eagle setup, I just prefer the feel of Shimano shifters.
I have x01 eagle gshift and xtr mech and it working fine on x01 cassette.
Don’t see why it wouldn’t work the other way round
I was running XTR mech and shifter with SRAM running gear - faultlessly. My rear mech has had an altercation with a stick at which point it snapped in two at the plasticky bit that links the body to the cage.
I have as an interim step run a SRAM mech and XTR shifter but will go back to full SRAM which seems to be sturdier.
