very cool! apparently only 100 being made....just need to wait for it to be delivered now...(and pay for it!) 😆
You could buy a couple of filing cabinets for that price.
They look very nice in the flesh...
Shame they couldn't match the fork decals to the frame.
Its an early April fool!
Another off the peg Orange; Whoah, hold me back...
im gutted to not have seen one in the flesh but the pics look great...
SLX and Mavic TN319 rims on a (nearly) £3k bike?
no ta.
But it's limited edition init!
Nice!
Not seen the geometry but isn't the suspension design going to result in silly long chainstays due to the bigger wheel? Depends what its aimed at i guess but if its a 29er version of the Five then i'm not convinced.
they spelled Giro wrong
In real life it looks very normal. I was trying to figure if it was even a 29er or not.
I have a Five but that spec if real is pants!
I think the Gyro revers to the gyroscopic effect of these huge wheels!
Any idea if/when they are available frame only?
Go Canyon IMHO I,m pretty sure there are 100 suckers out there 🙄
Yeah cos canyons are hand built in the uk aren't they 🙄
Yeah cos canyons are hand built in the uk aren't they
Are these?
Edit - from that link, this would suggest not:
only 100 available....orders being taken......due into the uk in june!!
another expensive bike kitted out in cheap shyte tat. 😀
trade mark orange that tho.
I was told about these fellas, can't say I've ever been that impressed by Orange. I remember way back when Lester raced Int Canoes (hope he still does)
Anyhoo's, looks nice, will it be hated on the trails or loved?? I wonder.
Still sticking with the Rumblefish.
It's a 29er five that's not sounding popular round here.
You couldn't make it up....
Stop insulting the Raleigh Burner by comparing it to that!
burner looks nice , old school cool 8)
Yes please, but not in black. Gold with black on the other hand... 8)
I remember way back when Lester raced Int Canoes (hope he still does)
*heads of to find old photie album and scanner*
is it april first yet ....
It's an Orange five that looks a little wronger.
If I come into a lot of money I'll try a 29er. Part of me is worried that I might actually like it and in doing so render my current three bikes obsolete. Finding a pretty 29er is a challenge, proportionally they look a little clumsy, unless they're made by Niner.
Its monocoque the same as the Five so it will definitely be made in Halifax.

Whats with the Orange hatred? Its like a school playground.
Crispedwheel - fair enough I had't looked just assumed they would be. Bit rubbish if they're not though.
Still rather have it than a canyon though!!
Its cool to hate Orange. Didn't you get that memo? All the cool kids on the forum hate Orange.
Not sure if all this is Orange or 29er hatred but who cares.
I like the look of this bike and the brand.
I'd love to see the geo.
If its a 5inch trail worthy machine I would love to drop my money on it.
Hmmm... 3:1 leverage ratio on the shock! Thought that kinda thing went out the window years ago?
Rules it out for fatties at least anyway...
Im sorry but that just looks gopping. not because its an orange, not because its a 29er, just the paintjob looks like crap. might look better if it was sparkly gold but that just looks like cheap spray paint gold. i hope to god it rdes better than it looks, and if youre that loaded to piss this much money up the wall to have something 'unique' then good for you.
I may go bankrupt if a see a once more.lol

Go on then, what does this mean. Does it mean anything or are you just 'sperging?
17" & 19" frame's only....... Really 🙄
As for the spec...... do me a favour 😯

Apart from the fact Orange have pretty much the best quality paint job of all the brands I have seen in the flesh, those shitty gold bits are stickers 🙄
i like orange bikes a lot.
probably more than i should just based on a few simple facts
there made down the rd from me
top top people work there
the bikes are built in th uk & not (taiwan) major plus
they ride incredibly well.
what does baffle me is all the haters ,i dont get it.
lets all buy from china & really screw up whats left of brittish manufacturing .
i import machines from china that were once made in germany & god is my job a lot more stresfull.
p.s i dont like this 29er though
having said that i dont like any 29er ive ridden which is all of one admittedly, but they work well on open fireroads but fall flat on there face when it comes to been thrown around .
Hmmm... 3:1 leverage ratio on the shock! Thought that kinda thing went out the window years ago?
For a start it's not 3:1
Pitch/enduro 150/57 = 2.63
5 is 140/50 = 2.8
Gyro 110/38 = 2.89
So it's in the same ballpark as most other bikes. If they went up a size (to 50mm) it's be almost 2:1.

EHHHH????? I've ridden an appollo 26" bike, are all 26" bikes rubbish?
As for the spec...... do me a favour
Guestimates:
Frame with kashima RP23 £1400?
Forks £800?
Wheels £250?
XT Groupset?
Elixir brakes?
OK, it's not cheep but it's still cheep compared to building that spec from scratch.

Oh dear, I'll put the kettle on 🙄
I really like the look of orange bikes and single pivot bikes in general. Nice and simple. The makes that always get the ugly prize for me is Mongoose, too many pivots. Canyon may be decent but they look a bit cheap.

Pitch/enduro 150/57 = 2.63
5 is 140/50 = 2.8

Well it's close enough to 3:1... Talk about splitting hairs!
Most bikes these days are 2.5:1 or less on the leverage ratio, which has been proven to be very beneficial both in terms of shock longevity and performance. That's not to say that of course you can't make a bike ride well with a shorter stroke shock, but if you're gonna put an air shock on it with a high leverage ratio you're essentially ruling out fatter people from buying one as shock pressures are still capped at 250psi max in general.
As for shock sizes... 44mm stroke is reasonably popular size these days OEM. Might be hard to find a 44mm stroke aftermarket, but to a manufacturer like Orange it would be easy to get hold of.
As for the 5 with a 2.8:1 ratio, it still puzzles me they don't put a 200x57 shock on that, there's plenty of room in the mainframe and it would make sense. Especially when Orange also make the ST4 with a 50mm stroke shock and 110mm travel (2.4:1 ratio) and the Blood with a 2.5:1 shock ratio.
2.8:1 isn't drastic, but getting close to 3:1 is compromising performance and suitability for fatties, which I don't understand given how easy it is to design the frame around a longer shock in the first place! Hey ho
mines a tea please
I like it. I like Orange in general. Sound bikes, sound people.
Yeah you can buy a bike with higher spec for the money but I like to think about what I spend with who, where possible. I've paid more than what many would consider 'good vfm' prices for bikes that come from passionate and credible people before and I would pay more for a bike that's made in the UK, despite knowing how good Taiwanese bikes can be. I used to go to Taiwan and see nothing but potential, I still do, but now it's mixed with a sadness that we can't do it as sucessfully here - or how those that do seem to be so up against it. I'd be proud to own a UK-made Orange. Irrational / illogical maybe, as are many aspects of buying decisions.
edit to add, great name too )
I like that, not a huge fan of oranges styling normally but I think the 29er wheels make the swingarm look less primitive than on the five, not that I'm knocking the engineering on them or how they ride, just they look a little boxy on the smaller wheels. Then again I own a Marin so i'm probably not qualified to critique styling.
the first fifty sold within a day so im waiting till june to get mine....but it'll come with 013 shocks and forks...orange fanboy here so disagree with most of above....shop i got it off theyre biggest selling full sus is a five.....must be doing someat right!
i'd have one (no hate here) and the 19" is actually a size spot on for me, always been in between sizes on orange frames
shame no 'frame only' option though... i'd stick a 140mm fox on it and proper 2.4's as well
I think I want one.
I dont like Peaches
Now i do! 😆
Having ridden the Strange green prototype last weekend I have to say that it was a really nice ride ...if a little bit noisy without a protected drive-side chainstay!
Much, much better to look at in a flat green colour than that black-gold colour scheme with the naff stickerage.
Does it have clearance for 2.4 tyre in the back? To Chunkypaul's Fox 140 I'd add some wider handlebars.
ooh, local bike shop in Hexham have got a Gyro in stock, think I'll go have a look...
Naranjada: I've ridden the Strange green proto too. Big wheels were fun, but the ally frame was as harsh as a harsh thing.
they work well on open fireroads but fall flat on there face when it comes to been thrown around .
Bad spelling apart, WTF?
I rode the Kingdom Bike Project Brigante the other week. Truly bloody awesome!

Surely you had the shock set up to firm then?
Ahhh I see, I thought you meant this one.
Edit: Saying that, I think all Strange prototypes are green.
Quite funny to see the haterz turning into loverz when Orange make a waggon wheeler.
They should stick to making freemince machines for fat****ers that would rather talk rubbish on here than get out and ride.
to be fair, the full sus does make more sense on this thread... 😉
Now I thought the green one looked disgusting but the final version's turned out not too bad looking.
As far as value goes, it's the same price and same spec level as the Five Pro (except Kashima-ised), despite being a smaller run and using some less common parts. Now I don't think the Five Pro's great value but I don't see it getting such a total slagging?
Righto, sweepstake... These are a "limited run of 100", if it sells out quick how many months til another lot come out? I bet 4.
Now I don't think the Five Pro's great value but I don't see it getting such a total slagging?
I do, all the time, where you been?
One of the value-slagging posts is from a Five owner, that's not normal...
Just been looking at a Gyro in the local shop. it seems all the ones made have been sold, so if anyone out there wants a 17", this one's still available.
Anyhow, it is lovely (too small for me luckily). Its not just a re-jigged Five, its all been tweaked, eg swingarm stays are a lot thinner. Makes it more "epic-XC" than "freeride-lite" which is where the 29" wheels make sense.

some people do have good reason.
some people do have good reason.
Good reason to "hate" a bike brand? All sounds a bit childish to be honest.
I used to slag them off, I thought they were rubbish. Then I rode one and really liked it, so I've ended up with one.
I like 29ers, I like Orange bikes. So this should be ideal but I'd like a go on one first...

Easter holidays yeah....
when they put them in a good colour scheme but it looks bogging in that colour scheme. i might go test ride one - just need to find a good orange stockist near a trail centre in 6 months time i liked the five i rode in the alps but im a 29er fan so im also wanting to test a tallboy 😀
Nice vid... Wonder when it was filmed, I've never seen some of those trails so dry!
Just thought I would add my bit, I bought one of these 2 weeks ago from my local cycle surgery and love it, couldn't be happier 😀
Good vid, wouldn't have believed those trails could be so dry if i hadn't seen them for myself too.
Don't think that'll be the case now!
I like the look of the bike and interested in riding one,I saw this vid a someone pointed out the rear wheel / frame flex at about 56 seconds in after a jump, sure does wobble
