I'm looking to swap out my steel frame for something a bit lighter (at the moment it weighs about 32lbs) to have a bike that handles winter gnarr but also perhaps to try some xc races (I don't want a pure xc hardtail, no space). My current forks are 160mm and I know the latest nukeproof scout RS runs 150mm up front, but anyone else run 160mm forks? I know they will slacken the bike and raise the BB a touch but does it feel Ok to ride?
Blake over on GMBN ran 170mm red Lyriks on his scout.
Blake's was a 275 set up for the Mega. Seems to ride ok ๐
Bike check here:
I've ran 10mm longer than specced forks on several bikes, when sag is taken into account it's more like 8mm difference and just under half a degree on the head angle, it's hardly noticeable unless you're back to back testing.
