hi,
im wanting to build up a trails bike but is a 26" or 20" better for a larger person/beginner? and also would a 14" long dirtjump frame work with thrails forks/wheels?

Think you mean trials bike, rather than trail bike mate!

Get a cheap second hand mod, you wont be worried about clouting it on the edges of walls etc.
I used to ride a dj bike with rigid forks but a mod is much more fun and easier to get started on
