As per the title really, heard a few things but not got any knowledge, so hoping that someone can enlighten me as to whats there and where it is. I ride marple quite a bit and it's easy enough to link the two.
So what do you know??
Carl
There's a few bits of singletrack in there, it's a case of follow your nose really, nothing worth making a special trip for but if you're passing through it's nice to ride the singletrack rather than the wide open old railway
Thanks nbt, would you say its worth parking over that way and then riding Reddish Vale on the way over to Marple just for something different or stick with parking at The Roman Lakes, it wouldn't really be a special trip more of a diversion.
There is a very small jump area in Woodbank/Reddish Vale, the rest is VERY tame so unless you live Stockport/Reddish area I'd park at the Roman Lakes
Where are you coming from that you have to drive to Roman lakes? There's a through route (in fatc that there are several) that you can ride from Reddish Vale through to Marple
Cheers, Sounds like I'll be giving it a miss then.
nbt - Drive over from Wilmslow way, I did ride it once but decided once was enough. Normally park in Marple and then go from there, anything from a quick loop to an all dayer over to Ladybower/Hope and back.
Ah, ok. Do you have lights? SIgn up to the South Manchester Massive and get out to find some stuff

not much round Wilmslow per se, though the airport run does go through Styal
A nice route can be put together through Reddish Vale from North Reddish to British Gas on more singletrack than not. It involves going under Tiviot Dale to Asda and then coming back on the other side of the Goyt though. I ride it on my route in to work in the summer when I'm at Manchester or Salford
Hoops knows loads more of it as well but I don't think he gets out much these days.
It's not a destination itself but a nice way to get into and out Marple if you're going in that direction.
Yeah I bumped into (not literaly) Brian from MMB'ers at the Roman Lakes cafe last weekend and he tried to sing me up to the site, they had come from over Reddish vale way so just wondered whats over there really.
Yeah I have lights and do Macc forest and Marple at night about 2-3 times a month. Done Styal woods at night a few times too but far to many steps for a decent ride.
It's like Delamere, I've been a few times but not really had a tour of the better bits but do know there is some good stuff if you know where to look, so tend to go over to Hope etc..
Manchers Mountain Bikers are not the South Manchester Massive although there is some crossover, MMB are a fa more structured and active group with a £25 membership fee, we're justa bumch of pissheads who ride bikes 🙂
Barca my old friend, good to see you back, I was worried about you, everything been ok?
Hi NBT
No. I can't lie to you. It's been rubbish, epic sized rubbish but thanks for asking.
2 minutes later...
Having said that, I've just asked for confirmation and I've been informed that in actual fact, it's been really rather nice.
🙁
If you were a drinker I'd suggest going out for a pint to make it all better. Cup of tea do you?
nbt - Drop me an e-mail (in profile)when your out round that way next if you fancy some new company.
Carl
Carlos, I ride it three times a week on my way home from work (Roscoe's roundabout to Marple), I rarely venture that way on my fun rides
OK, no worries.
