Hi,

I already have a brand new BB fitted and face onto my new frame.

Im looking to get an SLX chainset but obviously i don't need the BB.

I know Ribble had them a while back for cheap but they sold out so does anyone know anywhere else that does them without the BB?

Stll showing on the website (unless you want 170mm cranks):
http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/Shimano-SLX-M660-9-Spd-Triple-Chainset-ex-BB/SHIMCHAM300

Good price too - wish I'd seen that before I bought one last week as I'm using my old (ceramic) bearing cups anyway.

+ 1 for Ribble

Although just hope that you don't need to send it back to them or make a warranty claim!!!!!

They're not good 😕

i've always had 170 crank arms and it is on a 16" frame, will it make a massive difference going 175?

How tall are you?

I'm 5ft 7 and ride 170's

im 5ft 7 too. Just that price is so much cheaper than everywhere else.

I guess i could buy one with a BB and try and sell the BB.

Or just keep it 'til your current one wears out?

I used to get sore knees with 175's, although I think it's a very personal thing.

I think my 170's were £20 dearer than the 175's at the time I bought them

I've had said that you'd have been better on 170's, but it's really down to what you feel more comfortable riding.

I always use 175mm on all my bikes.
Or so I thought - a while ago I took the cranks off my old Kona only to find they had '170' stamped on the back. I'd never noticed a difference.

think i will get the 170mm from crc and just keep the BB for future needs.

Why i didn't get one from Ribble first is beyond me!

It really is a case of buyer beware.

I'd steer clear of Ribble IMHO.
