I can sort a cartridge service no problems, but was wondering if anyone's played about a bit more with the internals of a lefty ELO.
Had mine apart yesterday to change the oil and seals. Above the lockout bit in the middle of the damping rod there's a few shims (metal washers) separated by rubber o rings on the shaft. Can't see them doing anything other than floating about. Are these the compression shims? or rebound shims?
Didn't see anything similar below the lockout so I'm assuming that's a fixed rate.

Have you checked out the main rebuild guide/thread on the MTBR forum? Lots of info on it, no idea whether it would answer you question though
