As above please.

I'm thinking of building one up with an 8speed Alfine Hub as an all weather utility bike. Any thoughts?

I've also considered another On-Ones but fancied a change having already had 2 26" Inbreds.

I really wanted to like the Swift, the finish is certainly better and they just look right, but I preferred the feel of my Inbred 29er. The Singular forks are better than On-one rigids though.

So if you can I'd try before you buy.

I love my Swift, did a test ride on one and it just felt right. Ran mine briefly with an Alfine 8 but prefer it single speed. Comfortable bike for all day rides, handles really well, looks great. What more do you want?

I fell between sizes a bit so hard to judge properly. The niner mcr that replaced it is much lighter out back and has some zip that I felt was lacking on the swift.

It's a versatile bike and would do this well if it's what you need. Try and get a demo. Head for the Hills in Dorking have a Swift with an Alfine on it I believe.

yup but at 2 x the price, and without forks. (Actually more now, MCR9 is discontinued there is only SIR9).

You're right tho the Niners are nice too.

Love mine, had it a few years, running it fat front at the moment.
It's always Singlespeed.

Not a better steel rigid 29er on the market, for the money, IMHO.

I sold mine and am going to build a 456 again, need a long travel HT where I live really and how I ride, thought a 100mm Swift would be OK but never felt confident on it so sold it before this years influx of 29ers hit the market.

Tempted to get a Cube 29er or similar circa £600 for bikepacking duties as it will do fine for the money

loved my swift's.....has 2 off em. sold em and regretted it both time.

valleydaddy,i have a 20'' 456 to sell.

Well i orginally wanted a Salsa but at that time they were out of stock so went with a Swift which i picked up off a fellow STW member and have fell in love with it prolly one of the best bikes i have ever owned !

Honestly, no bike is going to be ideal for everyone, everything has a marmite element. However I'm glad to say that I hear very few (almost no) reports of people particularly disliking the Swift.

Tbh I would have never paid rrp for a niner! Great nic 2nd hand for 380. Certainly liked it just a weird fit thing for me.

Love my Swift, such a versatile frame will do almost every set up you want.
I had it SS, now it's got an Alfine 8, rigid? or bouncy front ... You choose.
Great for bike packing and does everything I ask of it and more

Hmm mine was okay just build quality wasn't as hot as other frames at the same price or only fractionally more. Bit heavy and had a high front end with those forks.

Yup I found the front a little high to start with, I slammed and flipped the stem and it's fine, I still have a low riser bar fitted so can can go lower if needed, by switching that to flat, but there's no need. The bike looks nice without a bunch of headset spacers.

Jrtg- was yours an early version?
I think the more recent one has got a lower front- 'think' being key to this statement!

I believe the change was in the fork not in the frame.

I'm 5'8", the medium is a good fit on me and like I say I'm still riding bars with a little rise, 15mm I think. It took me a while to drop the instinct to have a bunch of spacers but actually it's neater. A 26er with a bunch of spacers AND riser bars too looks silly now.
