Need to know the quality of workmanship and Paint?
Bike needs a new look and bored of colour.
Not personally but people I know have, and it's bloody good.
You've re-phrased that question 3 times now in 24 hours?

It's very good, but does chip easily compared to powdercoat so more suited to road bikes, although Peaty does/did get his Santa Cruz's custom painted there.

You a policeman?
This is a question after I have spoken to company who does the work and I'm about to send my love and joy for a paintjob! So I would like to speak to people who have had experience with the same company.
I had my cove done in 2003. Paints still mostly good except where I've dropped it.
Seems about perfect for a mountain bike thats seen a lot of use!

Had a steel frame resprayed under warranty by Trek & they sent the frame there, good finish and still good 18 years later
I had my Karate Monkey done last July, the finish was very good but it has chipped easily and it did need prepping (bottom bracket shell etc) despite them saying they did this.
I am near Telford, you can have a look at mine if you are local?

I had my Cross Check resprayed last summer. The guys at Argos did point out that I would be going from a tough powder coat finish on the frame to a more brittle paint finish which would need a bit more care. Despite that I'm very happy with the result. Just need to finish building the damn thing now.
The following is a terrible picture of a lovely looking frame...
It looks a million times better in real life.
Sent my old Kona explosif there years ago for a disc mount and respray, did a cracking job, metallic black
Good job got a stuck seatpost out for me as well!

Yeah. Two.
My Inbred is the two pack epoxy stuff which is as tough as hell. Argos did the stickers too, and laqured over them. The laquer is peeling on the (Very thick) stickers in places but otherwise it's still in very good nick nearly 6 years later

And my Explosif. My pride and joy. ๐
Gil at The Cycle Shed did the transfers for this one and they're under the Laquer again. I also had the brake hanger removed from the stem and cable tie guides added to the top tube for Magura HS33s or Vee brakes. Wasn't cheap. Was worth every penny. ๐

I had my Dialled Alpine done there. I thought they did a good job, but on closer examination there were a couple of flaws in the lacquer and I was amazed how easily a chip developed within a couple of rides.
yeah i got a Cove done there a few years back, they did the decals too that i sent off with it - lacquered over.
Looked great - cant comment on durability as i sold it not long after.....
The did a DH bike for me back in 07 that had side impacted the top tube against a Fort William rock leaving a a massive dent. They stripped it, filled the dent with automotive filler and resprayed with 2 pac paint that was miles better than the original paint.
The standard of work was staggering and the mend was completely invisible. They finished the look with new decals.
Very pricey but one of the best in the business.
PeterPoddy > That explosif is plain awesome! any pics built up?
Still trying to get my mate to part with his and sell it to me. He's already got the ti hei hei which is in the loft. terrible shame ๐
EDIT: found them on your flick stream. One of the best looking mountain bikes ever (IMHO)
I had my old Orange 5 done in a metallic light blue in 2007, which looked amazing but chipped easily.
I wanted to do my Cotic Soul last year and looked around at all the options (including "cheap" powder coats from people who usually do railings, wet paint or powder at a motorcycle specialist etc). In the end I went back to Argos and had the two-pack white done, which looks a lot better than it sounds...and is totally durable. (Limited colour choices though).
Not cheap, but by far the best finish and from a bunch of people who only do bicycles - and do them really well.
They did a seat stay repair on a steel road bike for me. Old one cracked, they cut it out and welded in new stays then resprayed. Perfect job.
They also did a Cove for me - Silverfish sent the frame there for a warranty respray and again, Argos did a great job.
Many years ago they did a dropout replacement and respray for me. They did an excellent job.
I keep thinking about spray my old jakyll. Its ccurrently out of action as iv removed the lefty ond fiting a standerd fork so might be time to bite the bullet and paint her
checkout cromaworks...
Anyone had a go at doing it there self
Fantastic pictures guys. Would be nice to know how to avoid the lacquer peeling but so far I'm impressed. I'm Convinsed on having the tough paint due to going to local trail centre.
Cheers.
