Morning all

The three main choices seem to be Islabike, Ridgeback and Specialized. Any opinions either way; the Ridgeback appeals due to having a brake and being pink (she is a little girl after all)?

Thanks

Yep, does everything a balance bike should do, no issues with it at all.

Thanks. How old was your little one when you got it?

Got an 'Adventure Zooom' (Scoot under a differant name for some reason, came with Ridgeback saddle) for Christmas.
Boys 20 months old now and is just slightly small to stand comfortably, will be ready for it by the summer ๐Ÿ™‚

Really impressed with it, definately worth a bit more than a Tesco/Halfords bike.

Doesn't matter which you get. They'll all be light, quality bits of kit. I think the Islabike is the lowest, seat height wise

You won't believe the difference a balance bike makes to them once they graduate to a 'proper' bike though

Daughter number 2 has been zipping around on her Islabike. Now she's big enough, I bought her a little Hot Rock. She got straight on it and was off. No stabilisers. No messing about. She just got it immediately. I'm putting this down to the balance bike.

Her friend who didn't have a balance bike, but a smaller bike with stabilisers, was really really struggling with the stabilisers off. Just kept keeling over sideways

A couple of years back at christmas i helped out in a bike shop and had put together a few of them, they lookes nice little balence bikes.

On 2 of them the parents asked for the brake to be removed which i thought was quite a good idea as it is one less thing to think about in the beginning.

We have a Scoot and I'd happily recommend it to anyone.

Light, strong, well put together.

We got it for my daughter's 2nd birthday but it was probably another 4-6 months before she was really big enough to use it properly.

Scoots are great for all!! I got one for a niece a couple of christmas's ago, came ready built no box from evans in brum. I had great fun racing down the ramps in bullring and moor street train station, didn't want to wrap it for christmas!

Plus there is a youtube video somewhere featuring scoots and downhill grassy slopes!

aye, we got a scoot for my son - he loves it.

we got it when he was two and he's now four and graduating onto an islabike with pedals and the tinniest v-brake levers.

wee guy had a spectacular crash on it though resulting in gravel rash on his face and arms and a telling-off for me from his granny. he's been a lot more cautious since then. i was quite amazed / horrified at just how fast kids go on these things!

What verses said. My little lad is 27 months but is just now getting to the stage where he can touch the floor (even with my mods - flipping the seatpost guts and hacking a cm off the seat tube to slam it lower!).

Yep, my lad's had it for about 1 1/2 years now, that's riding at Whinlatter with me. We upgraded the brakes to XT as i had a spare set. Bling.
Bars don't stand to being run over by a Volvo though. ๐Ÿ™‚

He's just got his first pedal bike. Has no problem with the balance on it, but is a bit phased by pedalling.

Only critisism I have of the Scoot, is that there is nothing to stop the handlebars spinning round, and the nuts for the back wheel stick out to far which used to catch juniors feet when he was going full team.
We also had a Likeabike at teh same time, which I am comparing it against.
