I'm thinking two or three weekends from now somewhere off the A9 corridor.

Anyone fancy it?

It's all relative.

Relative to what, I'm only 30 miles from you and its blowing a gale and persisting it down. May seem worse because I've got man flu.

Relative to the middle of a wet winter when you're wearing the wrong clothes.

You cant beat a bit of weather.

And now that i'm moving away from the Tweed Valley I'll be heading to the highlands a lot more. So I'll be doing a fair bit of bivvying and biking over the winter. Anyone up for a few winter bivvying jaunts?

Allthepies - not sure about the special cuddles, but i'm not against a bit of spooning to keep warm. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Goan,

I'm up for something, but I don't have a bivvy bag, just an Argos tent which was fine for a couple of months ago but I'm yet to test it for winter. I'm going to have a night in the Pentlands first as I can just ride downhill to my house if it's too cold.

I'm still building up my kit, ti mug is on order and am due to order a slim Airic when I can be sure it'll get through the post.

My banter is pish though.

Fancy it? Yes. Equipped for it? No, sadly. Sleeping bag is bulky and not v warm. Maybe if I sell a bike I'll get some decent camping kit.

Quite possibly up for something along those lines - sick of trail centres and need some excitement in my life (though not of the spooning / special cuddles type..).

Got the kit - might have gone mouldy through lack of use!

Goan, I'm sorry but are you insane? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Its not exactly the weather for bivvying... I'm in Glasgow (like you) and its been sealskin gloves and overshoes on the commute recently...

However - I'm interested - I have a new one man tent to try out in anger ๐Ÿ™‚

Why don't you invite Bear Grylls, Ray Mears or Ranulph Fiennes to this survival-fest? All us mere pussies and wooses{sic} would surely hold you back and get you killed/airlifted?

Mind you they'd probaly wait till the weather got really sh1te...

And p.s I thought the Tweed Valley was THE best place on the planet EVER? Why you leaving god's own country? Might not be as easy for folk to arrive at your door to respond to your fight challenges now? Suppose it depends on where you're off to. Good luck with the flitting.

>the hepcats are all jak****ng,<

In winter the hepcats find better ways to stay dry, warm, get tanked up on good food so they can go do some serious riding the next day ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, any suggestions for a location? I can't do the weekend of the 14th November but am free most other weekends.

Anyone else? A post up on mtbscotland might be an idea as I've mentioned something of this ilk to a couple of folk

MussEd - due to a twist of fate we're staying here.

Where do folk want to go? the weekend after the 14th is good for me.

Am I insane, no. Do I like an adventure, yes.

After prolonged discussion with trail_rat - how do people fancy a ride in glen feshie? neither of us have been there and dont have a clue what its like - sounds perfect.
