@ianc I remember at times, the first year of having a pup being fairly frustrating wanting to get out on big walks etc.....after that first year though, for me a big day hiking in the mountains with my dog is one of the best days that you can have.

I've not ridden since 2015.....awaiting my new wheels from Superstar then I'll hopefully be out on a short local loop by the end of the month.....I'm getting fairly excited at the thought of it!

Did some stuff on zwift including a metric century and then I've had a second pulmonary embolism.

No riding for a while 😥

5 rides and 1 walk.

No such thing as bad weather, just s**t choice of clothing.

I generally follow this approach, for running and cycling and walking. But **** me it's been slippy in the borders and I cannot be hooped putting my spikes on.

I've ridden a few times but I haven't been windsurfing for months because of my back. I had spinal surgery in October, today says 8 degrees and a SW force 4 so I might get on Chasewater

Unfortunately not touched bike or the turbo trainer. Leading up to Christmas i was feeling great, doing some good training and looking forward to doing some racing this year. Then felt terrible after too much eating and drinking at Christmas and now after a few weeks of not riding I seem to have lost all motivation.

Really need to get out soon otherwise I feel like I'll just give up cycling altogether.

Might try and get out this weekend....

Every A&E round here was rammed with people with injuries from falling on the ice the other day. The nearest one put a warning out on Facebook to expect an 8 hour wait if you had to attend

A mate slipped on his garden path and broke his back

Another friend slipped and broke her wrist 2 nights ago when taking out the bins.

So I reckon there is such a thing as bad weather 🙄

Proper MTB means a couple of hours each way in the car, so none of that. Local MTB is unusually muddy so rides are done hub deep in smelly mud while slithering along a towpath or flat field edge at 3mph, and I'm sick of ****s on the road trying to murder me, so it's all been virtual so far this year.

Had a couple of nice frozen rides on the local trails but everything got a bit to icey in the end , wouldnt even think about the road in those conditions .

Should be heading out on days off work this week but I will be trying to stop a 3 year old interrupting  home schooling for a 7 year old , which should be fun .

Not ridden since July last year due to injury.
Have started a bit of walking instead but TBH it's a bit dull.

Not ridden MTB since early summer 2020. Body and bike both injured.

Not expected to ride until spring (if fortunate) after long self-admin physio program and new/old HT build. Otherwise it’s a year saving/earning enough for surgery/repair (of me) which means also selling bike/s. A bind.

Walking is preserving some mental health 🤪

First and only ride of the year was on the third. A cold thirty miles on the road bike which I enjoyed. Before that I think it was October that I last had a pedal. I’m not busting a gut to get out in the cold, I can’t see the point.

One night ride last week. Local trails have taken a real hammering with wet weather and extra traffic due to lockdown. Would love to go to Glentress for a night ride, frustrating that it's only half an hour away, although I guess the trails are pretty icy just now anyway. On the plus side had a couple of lovely walks in the snowy Pentlands in the last few days.

Weather's been pretty icy and not able to ride with buddies but have tried to get out for a 1 hour urban ride every second day. Looking into joining the Zwift cult as my sports centre is shut so I cannot get on the watt bikes.

Not been out on a proper bike since last Feb - still using the commuter for short rides to get essentials for the house but typically only once a week.

Riding on local roads is always a bit iffy and I decided I didn't want to run the lottery of being knocked off on a "long" ride / a hospital admission during a pandemic - that combined with young kids has meant there's no time anyway.

The turbo trainer has been getting a fair bit of use though so I'm reasonably fit at the moment. I'm looking forward to getting some proper rides in over the summer if that's allowed by then.

I've been out on the road bike a few times but mtb isn't possible in winter time if I can't drive anywhere.

No. We had a family ride with the little ones on Christmas day, MacRide and Ergobaby a-go-go.

Since then it's been minging weather and nowhere good to ride without a drive, so have chosen not to.

Take the kids to nursery on the bike & trailer though and done a couple of runs but that's it!

You're not really a cyclist mate, just someone that owns a bike 🙂

Not ridden yet, partly due to icy roads but mainly because the plan for this year is to concentrate more on running. That said I can see the gravel bike coming out the garage pretty soon.

Not been on a bike at all this year.
Have set myself the target of running at least ten miles a day through lockdown though. As of yesterday, 10 January, I've done that and a total of 116miles/10,500ft.
Running is just nicer in this weather.

New Year's resolution to ride outside every day in Jan. So far going to plan - out early with the dog back before the home schooling starts. Lad sometimes comes with me. It's only a 30 minute loop from the door so not exactly far but feel heaps better starting the day on it. Converted old Soda to s/s over the week-end to spice it up a bit.

My bike was stolen in July, spent a little while building up a new one which was completed in... October? Somewhere around there.

I have ridden it ONCE. For about half an hour. Twice if you count zooming up and down the road to bed the brakes in.
My dream bike is just sitting there and a combination of no time, no cold weather clothing and no lights has been keeping me away. If I don't get out properly soon I'm going to scream! And/or explode.

I foolishly signed upto do 30 hours of activity this month on Strava......being so busy with other things i checked yesterday and 1/3 of the month i've done 2.5! LOL
Maybe i'll save the 30 hours for when we're really allowed to be out for long times and not having walls to paint, bricks to rip up etc etc !!!!!!

First ride of the year done. A very gentle pootle down the Trans-Pennine, from central Barnsley to Bolton-on-Dearne, and back via Manvers. Everything seems to have gone ok. 🙂

pudendal nerve injury has meant no riding at all since november with the liklihood of no riding for many more months, possibly permanently.

was all the excuse i needed to buy a moto trials bike.....there is always a means to ride one bike or another.

Nope, not even my traditional NYD ride this year, stayed in bed until lunchtime instead.

I’ve not been on my mountain bike since erm, August? I last went on my road bike in October I think. The bit of cold we had made it look like I mig JT get out, but the snow meant it was still too grim out for a first ride back, and it’s going wet now.

Oh well, just sorted the WiFi extender out so I’ll be able to get on the turbo later this week.

Any idea how smart turbos cope with shed level dampness?

Once so far!
Had a good 10 day break over Christmas so went out a few times.
Back at work for three days and avoided the ice and foggy commutes.
Unfortunately a Covid case at work has put me on a 10 day self isolation block so no riding anywhere till this clears up!
😢
Max.

Not been out at all.
Main riding buddy has covid, one has had surgery and the others don't fancy it. On top of that I'm struggling with the cold and work pressures.

Not yet but plan to ride tomorrow, Wednesday looks a no go due to heavy rain all day, Thursday is a maybe.
Will only be a short ride, still getting a bit breathless just walking after covid.
My last ride was the 19th December, just been working nights and Christmas prep and then became covid positive the 25th and Symptoms started the 28th, isolation finished 5th January and back to work on the 8th.

Not been out on my bikes yet. Mixture of dark nights, constant ice, friends not about and little free time. Have been running instead, treadmill mostly.

I have but I won't until the weather picks up or lockdown is eased. It was horrible and shitty.. literally.. My lockdown ride takes me through two farm yards that have cows.

Yup....

Snow in the hills, locally compacted snow/ice on the ground.

Lack of suitable footwear.

Need the van for work so no bike commuting (although I've only worked two days ago far this year... 😁

Yep. Last ride was 22nd Nov, and now been told I’ve got long COVID. However I feel like my ribs are seizing up so going to try some short turbo spins this week to see if I can get things moving a bit.

Wow, that’s a long time to wait for an order! I’d be getting on to customer services within two yrs at least....😂

I’ve been out a couple of times on my gravel bike but fed up of getting covered in mud so have bought some full length mudguards. It’s been too cold in the shed to find the impetus to fit them though as they need a few mods.

Also have an elite zumo in the dining room unused and thinking of getting hooked up instead as weather/ kids/ home schooling/ working/ dark nights etc do hinder realistic riding opportunities.

Just don’t know where to start on zwift and don’t want to get put off.

Nope, haven't been on my mountain bike since the end of November, the weekend before I started radiotherapy. I had a couple of goes on Zwift in the garage last week, but that wasn't very comfortable as Trevor (my tumour) made it very clear he wasn't pleased. Then I started chemo on Friday and have been feeling a bit barfy most days. Hoping to give the turbo another go in a day or two if I feel better, as the doc did prescribe me some rather excellent painkillers to try and keep Trev quiet.

I live for and love my bikes, but in reality, once I've finished the chemo, and have had surgery, I'm probably going to be looking at mid-late summer before I can properly get out again. The upside of it though, is you should see the new bike I have my eyes on. I bought my dream bike (Orange Four Factory spec), five years ago as a treat to myself for surviving a stupid snowboarding accident where I broke my back, but came out of recovery relatively unscathed. This time....whooo....I'm going to treat myself.

Not ridden outside since last May. Probable covid infection in early March, now ten months into long covid. Improving slowly and can now walk for 30-40 minutes at a time. Glacially slow and not very steady/linear recovery and now feeling better enough to be quite bored.

I've just finished building up a new FlareMAX as a supernova orange beacon of hope. Looking forward to riding it a lot, though no idea when I'll be capable of riding again. Hoping I'll be back on the road and the trails again by the spring.

I still have a deferred place for this year's Whitton on 9 May, but I can't imagine a mass participation sports event is likely to happen or that I'll be capable of completing it if it does, but I can dream 🙂

I've not done many miles this year, but my new riding buddy, although really slow is impossibly cute...
[img] [/img] It's taking us ~40 minutes to do the 3km to nursery but he'll do pretty much anything to be allowed to ride his bike in the morning.

Just five rides so far, including a horrendous carry/snow flounder. Thought it was more than that. Keep meaning to turbo (old school) but CBA.
