I was once chased by a dog, I kept riding, it kept chasing, I kept riding…..and riding……and riding. Still to this day I have no idea if the dog made it back to its owner.

One one occasion I slowed down a bit so the little ****er would keep going. Gives the dug a good workout, and usually the owner too as they chug after it.

As said before, a chilli flavoured fluid in a pump action bottle. No creature on earth is going to continue trying to attack as its eyes are burning. Possibly why Section 5(1)(b) of the firearms Act 1968 prohibits any weapon of whatever description design or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid or gas.

Arses are prohibited weapons.
Who'd have thought.

I holidayed in Torridon in Nov 2019 and got the fright of my life by the dogs at Loch Damh. I was riding solo and raced between the gates, but the dogs were very aggressive. As you say, no one around and I also assumed they belonged to the workers on the fish farm. My folks were there around the same sort of time you must have been last year and also found them very threatening Sorry to hear about them biting your son and that the fiscal won't take it any further...

@sentiershredding (and everyone else who's had a similar experience with the dogs).

Why not report it to the po-po?

They lack coroborating evidence, or a history of similar incidents / reports. Give them it.

I guess I hadn't thought to. They're not the first aggressive dogs I've met in working type conditions and I'm not really a big dog fan so could have been an over reaction... I'd report it now but not sure anecdotal evidence from a year and a half ago would be given much attention? Is the point not that they want corroborating evidence of the generalist's incident as opposed to other people also reporting what scrappy wee dogs they are?

Nah - they'll act if there is a history of similar reports.

^ this is where the Moorov Doctrine comes in. Two or more incidents that in isolation can’t be corroborated can corroborate each other if the crimes are similar, there are different witnesses and the same suspect is identified in each case.

Did the Beinn Damph circuit yesterday No loose dogs at the fish farm, although there were people there, so all looks OK.

Well, yes but no but... There was another group attacked either the day before or the day after us. Didn't help.

Better news.
