As I leave home of a morning I've seen quite a few cyclists around.
Just out of interest, are there any Marple-based commuters on here?

Where do you commute to? What's your route?

I ride from just past Goyt Mill, out to High Lane, down the A6, Hazel Grove, a bit of Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme, Heald Green, ending in Wythenshawe.

ending in Wythenshawe

On purpose or...?

EDIT: sorry, sly dig. Nothing to add to the OP

Hand held up. Not quite Marple. I'm next door to it although I ride Marple Rd (A626). Usually to Eccles, occasionally Moss Side and even less frequently Reddish.
Route: A626, Hempshaw Lane, A6 to Dickenson Rd then down to Moss Side or Chorlton, Salford then Eccles or A6 to School Lane and into Reddish.
Sometime cut through Edgeley to Cheadle and then Kingsway, Rusholme, Chorlton....

Yes, I do, but I go the other way - from the Ring o'bells I take the canal through to Hyde (although I've mostly been getting the train through winter).

In my previous job I went to work through Offerton and past the Harley Davidson garage through Edgely to Roscoe's Roundabout - my mate went down Torkington Lane and through Mirlees Blackstone to the same place as he's that little bit higher on the ridge and can coast down to Doodfield Stores. Homeward bound I favoured the Trans Pennine Trail to Brdbury Hall then Mill Lane, he preferred to cut through Bramhall to the back of the Dairyground estate, through to Poynton and up Prince's incline

I used to come in from New Mills down the A6. I've not ridden it for almost 2 years now due to various stuff.

There used to be a guy in full "Team Discovery" kit, matching uber posh racer etc.

I used to overtake him regularly outside Stockport College on my clapped out trek hybrid. It was a small, pointless (and quite sad) victory every day, but it made the 14 miles that bit more entertaining. One day I got overtaken by someone wearing a British cycling jersy who shot past me like I was standing still (I was going for it at the time). I felt bad for Mr Discovery after that, and stopped chasing him down.

๐Ÿ˜†

I was overtaken this morning by a guy on a proper road bike (I commute on my MTB) ... he went gliding effortlessly past ... I caught him up at traffic lights and drafted him all the way down the A6 8)

Dan1980. That was me! I got so pissed off with you I took a large dose of EPO, donned the kit and showed you how to do it.
