The missus has offered to buy me a reverb for my birthday but since I'm away over the bank holiday on the bike has said that i'll be able to have it beforehand for this weekend.

I had a look round all the usual cheap UK and German websites and the cheapest I've seen is £170 for an OEM reverb and £200 for a boxed one.

I'm not sure what overall length I need at the moment but think i'm looking for a 125mm drop. I need a 30.9mm post.

Although the current post is 410mm I think I'd like something a little shorter because I can't drop the seat all the way down to the collar because the seat tube is cut off to allow the shock to run through the frame. I'm thinking the best way of working this out is to measure how much post I have showing at the moment (when in uphill mode) and then subtract 125mm. Then, using the remaining measurement I should be able to work out which post is the best fit, taking into account the minimum requirements for the frame.

I've done a search on google and hear and couldn't find a definitive way of sizing the post so any advice much appreciated.

Ta

Merlin had OEM ones without a bleed kit for about £160-170. Not sure you'll get much cheaper than that merlin reverb linky

Oh and you won't need to drop the post down into the frame - it does the dropping bit within the overall length with the telescopic part that sits above the seat clamp. For sizing its how long an extended post you require for your height and to have a correct and safe insertion to the frame. If you've got a 410mm seat post now and it is unnecessarily long then I'd get the same length Reverb.
Also you may as well get 125mm drop as it is infinately adjustable and you can always use less than you've got but not more...

I got one from CRC a few weeks back for £170. It said it would be OEM, but what actually arrived was the full boxed retail kit.

Thanks for all the advice chaps, would've been useful except I made a major mistake - relying on the tech specs and not measuring my seatpost, the dropper arrive yesterday and is too long 🙁

I must've had the seatpost out 20 times in the last year and never noticed that it had been cut down!

After some proper measurements last night and some maths, it looks like the 380mm one will fit.

Lesson learnt!

Hoping it arrives tomorrow so that I can fit it tomorrow evening, ready for a long weekend in N. Wales. Gimme a wave if you spot someone with a long coil of cable zip tied to their bars!
