Just use gaffa tape, electrical tape and a valve off an old tube. There'sa guide if you search tubeless, bout 29 posts on it.
Got it on 2 bikes, works spot on. Cost under a tenner for 4 wheel sets, and lots left over, that was with a bit of gunk in each too, managed to inflate with track pump

I don't like the idea of cutting up inner tubes. Believe it or not, I have a mild rubber phobia.

I do have electric tape and duck tape in stock though, so that might be worth a try. Want removable valve cores really though, so might have to buy some UST valves too.

The rim strips are a lot thicker than tape, you'll need a lot of tape to replicate the thickness of a rimstrip, tyres will be much harder to seal without.

The rim strips produced by stans are different in principle to ghetto tubeless ho. In stans they kind of prop the beads apart on the INSIDE of the bead and stop burping, whilst the ghetto method is half a tube sealing with latex against the OUTSIDE of the bead.

The stans stuff seems to work well, as it sorta glues itself to the tyre, making the whole thing into a tube. I've even managed to unseat a tyre and its remained glued to the strip

It is effectively half an inner tube for 4x the price though.

No it's not, ROFL Harris is right.

Seems to work just as well though. A mate has had more problems with his proper Stan's kit than I have had with my ghetto one (ie none).

Hi Simon, very interested yes, they'll be the right width, are they schrader or presta valves?

It's a strip of rubber with a valve attached. It might be narrower and thicker than a cut-down inner tube, but I don't think that would quadruple the cost of manufacture - even on smaller production runs.

Do you think they're good value at £25 a wheel?

I recently used two layers of this tape:

plus an old valve which I trimmed down myself, and it worked a treat.

Depends on which method of ghetto your using, with the method I use, from here; http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/ghetto-tubeless-4 (See daims post for a more detailed version of below) Method I use is like his with a bit of the youtube video on that thread thrown in for good measure.
I use a bit excess to make sure it seals, but has sealed everytime and inflated every time with a track pump, some fairy liquid and stans sealant.
Method I use slightly different to link being
1) 1 strip of gaffa tap and 1/3 or normal width, overlapping the valve and whole wheel by two spoke eyelet distance either side
2) Go over with electric tape
3) Repeat 1 & 2
4) Cut hole for valve with stanley knife
4) Cut valve out of inner tube, cut down so fits snug in the dip in the rim, Tape over with gaffa, make sure that all edges are tightly down
5) Go over with electric tape
6) Go over valve and the two overlaps of 2 eyelets by about 2 inches either side with gaffa then electric tape to ensure good sealing.
7) Pop tyre on, shove neat f/liquid on and sealant.
8) Inflate

Needs a good untarnished bead on the tyre but works well.
Different to tube method, and have had no burping.
