it's not a route I'd ride personally - as a local I know all of the trails and I'd not link them that way, but it's fairly well surfaced and should be holding up quite well
Some good trails in that loop, think you'd enjoy it - although as nbt infers it seems to include a couple against the flow. Plenty of climbing for 15 miles so it's not like it's a bimble - Greenshall la is a fairly bracing climb to roll out right at the kickoff.
better to do in reverse?
Most of it is better in reverse. But just ride it, as it's a good way to get to know the area.
By the way there's a mistake in the route. Stay on the b6101 for another 200m East and you'll see the obvious bridleway that goes past the papermill.
