Back in the day upside down ,back to front drops was an actual thing to go with your snorkel parka and flares.
Jeeez. Not if they want to be able to, like, actually stop, especially in a hurry.
Isn't that a V-brake lever of some sort attached to the front brake?
It's set up to slot into the shopping trolleys behind.

This 👆🏻 on my dads 531 Carlton touring bike - ace for wheelies, but not so good for getting a clip round the ear 😩
I once stopped to help a woman fix a puncture on a hybrid round the minor road west of Thirlmere. While I was at it, I asked did she want me to adjust the position of her brake levers, which were pointing upwards at 45 degrees. Nope, that's how she liked them. Fair enough, crack on...
I had THAT bike, but not with the bar rolled like that.
Unusually its not attached to a single speed. usually that weirdo crowd do these things
Yep - standard in the 70's!
Then we migrated to cow-horn handlebars. Bar tape was various colours of insulating tape, no fancy grips. ๐

Me too.
I inherited it from my brother when i was 16 so i could ride to work on something faster than a BMX.
that is a photo taken in 1978 outside Presto. Absolutely normal, move on nothing to see
To be fair we haven't seen the rider, they could be from Chernobyl.
Raleigh Europa frame as well !
I salute them. They've just taken the only machine they've got available and moved bars and brakes to where they want them.
These lone wolves don't care about bikes, trends, standards, cool or anything else, they're just getting from A to B.
best way to make a bike thats too big fit
