Bit bored this morning cos I can't get out on the bike due to rampaging stomach bug so was staring at bits in the garage with a view to creating! The forks on my 26" Soul are very tired and there are some 29er forks and wheel left over from another build so I was wondering about combining the two.
Has anybody ever done this with a Soul and what were the results? Obviously it is going to be longer but not lower. Would I be better using the original 26" wheel in the 29er forks to keep it lower? Is this a completely mad idea and a waste of the couple of hours it will take?
Obviously all can be rapidly restored to normal

What travel are the 29'er forks? That may make some of your wheelsize decision for you.

Go rigid, source a Singular Hummingbird fork and you'll be good to go.

What qwerty said - Hummingbird or Gryphon fork, they're the same apart from the colour.

Axle to crown length will be far too long and make the BB too high and seat angle too slack.

I've 69ed an Inbred before, it worked, it'll work even better if there's an easy way to reduce the travel! Even you just increase the sag to begin with. Try it! ๐Ÿ™‚

I ran a 26er Soul with a very sagged 150 Float 32 for a long time. It was a pig in uphill switchbacks but otherwise it was fine. That particular combination of frame and fork looks like it's going to see the light of day again soon, but with spacers to drop the fork a bit this time I think... ๐Ÿ™‚

If it was a 100mm 29'er fork I would have been tempted to try a 26" wheel in there.
