Hi. Anyone using or got thoughts on the crankbrother easy release cleats?
Got a set of mallets for a few years now but keep going back to flats. Really want to teach myself cleats because it makes pedalling so much more effortless and efficient. I just dont have the confidence when descending in cleats. End up unclipping and riding on top of the cleats! Which is not ideal!
Had a smash when my old cleats got worn and unclipped me at an unsavoury moment and I got smashed up.
Back to flats...
Recently went back to the clip less with a set of rock bros crankbros cleats from Ebay. Find I have to twist my feet very far to release.
Would the genuine quick release cleats give me more confidence?
Any thoughts appreciated
Never had an issue with mine. I might have just developed an ankle flick that releases. Can step off as easily as flats.

Just second nature to me now, though granted it takes a while to get that way with increased risk during the learning curve.
I once bought a set of multi-release Shimano cleats because they were cheap and had a problem with pulling them out of the pedal at inopportune moments. Also had some compatible ones that didn't always release cleanly, I only use standard Shimano ones since these issues.
clips are one of those things you have to persevere with and ride through the flat pedal foot off mentality and trust that front tyre.
try riding slower but not unclipping initially and then introduce more speed. foot out with clips is not bad but getting the muscle memory to clip back in first go is hard and only comes with time.
I still ride flats locally as wet greasy mud and roots combined with tight techy trails are hard in clips. but i`m clipped in for wales and rockier/rougher places or xc rides.

I found CrankBros easy release cleats were a happy medium for off road. Easy to clip in to, but they will unclip if you pull hard enough. Unlike Shimano that, I find, are very positive, you're either in or out, with the CB cleats getting back in is less of a precise art. It's a forward clip motion, or backwards if you miss first time. I found with slightly worn cleats they will also clip in if you just stamp down.

Adjust the angle of the cleats so you dont have to twist so far
