Not many bridleways round Cartmel, but if you head back to the Witherslack area, there are quite a few bridleways near Whittbarrow scar and around the Cartmel fell area (not near the village of Cartmel)
Get the v graphics lakes book. There's a nice on in that
Pretty quick into Grizedale from there. If you can do a 20ism minute drive:
Look on the OS map for the bridleways from Blawith west towards Woodland and Torver Common. From Torver, you can climb up onto Walna Scar via the quarries and return down the River Lickle/ Stevenson Ground/Broughton Mills.
There are some decent woodsy BWs around Cartmel and Grange over Sands. Not easy to describe but clear on the map. Best ones are NE around Witherslack and up towards Windermere.
