TBH, there's a lot of things to see and do there that are probably more fun than visitiny bike shops (this isn't facaetious - just saying there aren't any 'uber special' bike shops, and lots of 'more interesting' other types of shop in the lanes!)

Yep, I like Freedom bikes...got my Cotic from them.

Rayment Cycles are pretty good as well...bought a nice Spesh Stumpjumper from them

Quest Adventure in Worthing (ok not Brighton) for rides; Rayments & Sydney St. Bikes are often recommended (Rayments for wheel-building and wrenching, from personal experience).
