I have just started looking for the next bike for my son (24" wheels this time) and noticed one of my preferred options, the Vitus Nucleus, comes with a Box Components drivetrain.
A quick forum search and review check identified there were issues with having to remove the rear derailleur to remove the rear wheel on some frames using Box Components. This puts me off slightly, but does anyone have any experience of using Box Components drivetrains long term?
The Vitus is a preferred option as it is the right colour and budget (generous grandparents), and last years model had good reviews.
Thanks

When they announced their 11/12 speed offerings, I was left thinking, whats the point!?
didn't really seem to offer anything better than the 2 big S's their selling point seemed to just be that they were not those.
I dont know why anyone would choose to go away from the widely available, often largely discounted main options.
If the bike i wanted had it, i dont think it would put me unduly off, if it fell apart, well the drive train is consumable anyway, would get replaced with one of the big names ๐
None, but their new rear hub looks interesting. And by interesting, I mean cheaper than onyx
If everything else about the bike is right I wouldn't think it's a deal breaker. You might even get lucky and find it doesn't suffer from the "wheel off" issue. I'd like to think the manufacturer of the bike tested that issue out before speccing Box but...
A Friend has been running the 11 speed Box group without issue for a while now.
I have a box one derailleur and shifter on my big bike (11sp) and to be honest haven't notice any difference from the slx I got on my other bike. As Stayhigh said zero complaints it works the bike changes gear when i want can you ask for more. Only plus is its nice to run something different. Would i get another one yep 100% but likely would go 12sp just to try the trp thing next.
Getting the wheel out can be a bit of a pain at first (on a cotic rocket) as it doesn't have the same system as shimano but to be honest now im used to it its fine, i never the derailleur off to get the back wheel off.
