Considering a summer holiday at the end of the M5, into Devon on the coast somewhere. Will likely take my bike, will I find an abundance of trails or few and far between?
Thanks.

Haldon Forest has some built trails - light blue, dark blue, red and a short black add-on to the red. Dark blue is really good fun, the red is not a great deal harder and also fun.

Woodbury Common has some fun natural trails you can stitch together, plus some built ones tucked away.

If you want some smooth off road there’s a disused railway trail all the way from the centre of Exeter to Lyme Regis which is pleasant if the weather has soaked the trails.

Great thanks. Is there much in the way of coastal singletrack between Exmouth and Seaton? I don't mind a bit of cheek, it's likely to be v early.

Exmouth to Seaton is Southwest Coastal Path and walkers get grumpy if you dare to ride a bike on it. There are Rangers walking bits as well.

You could use NT2 Exeter to Seaton. Some long off road gravel sections. Two big hill into and out of Sidmouth.

Miles of nice off-piste trails up Haldon. A local to show you around would be useful, but most can be found by following your nose.

Woodbury has loads of stuff from wide open BWs to techy Singletrack and even jumps. Again local knowledge is useful.

I'd avoid the coastal path in the summer, you'll get tutted at a lot. There's lots of gates and stiles too.

Thanks guys. The accommodation I've been looking at isn't far from woodbury so that looks like it'll suit. I'll put up a thread nearer the time asking for company which I would appreciate, thanks.

To go with the above, you have cafeside up Haldon hill which has drops, jumps and some good tacks, its the other side of the hill from the official place. You also have Cove out the back of Tiverton and Cannonteign which are good spots.

Haldon, and find some time to get up to Lustleigh. I've walked that part of the SWCP and don't remember thinking 'Ooo I must bring a bike along here' at any point, and the properly grumpy walkers / 101 holidaymakers will be there to spoil it anyway unless you're dead early.

Big day out on Dartmoor or Exmoor would be far nicer IMHO.

Woodbury Common, Haldon Woods, Exmoor, Dartmoor, Quantocks, Cove Woods and Cove Quarry (for an afternoon only really and not 100% certain Cove Woods is an option at present/anymore due to tree felling etc). Real old school XC Culmstock Beacon (bit of an out and back option).
