Hi,

I'm thinking of skipping work tomorrow and heading to Bodmin Moor for a ride. All my previous rides there have been fairly ad-lib, without any 'flow'. I don't suppose anyone has a GPS track of a circular route they'd recommend?

I don't think I'll have time to make it to Dartmoor (I'm further <-- that way than most of you) and still get a good ride in...

Ta.

Anyone? I might just end up working all day otherwise, and that can't be good for me...

They do, but without having explored them before, I'm in exactly the same situation as before - trying to piece together unknown terrain into a pleasant ride. I would have thought somebody with more local knowledge may be able to suggest a route that rides well, rather than a messy jumble of unrideable farm tracks.

Thanks for your input though.

Kaysee - I live pretty near but have never ventured right onto the Moor - as you say, routes aren't that easy to come by.

Tend to stick further down and/or ride Dunmere Woods (Bodmin) and similar. Will explore the Moor soon on the bike - been loads on foot but not "done it" on the MTB. Had a great ride on Dartmoor though - think it's a bit more MTB friendly.

Surf-Mat - I've done a fair bit of Dartmoor riding, but was hoping for something a bit closer this time. I've heard a rumour that Dunmere was closed to bikes at the moment due to someone trying to sue the owners after an accident? Last time I rode Dunmere was part of the CMBC race series, probably 1995 or 96.

There's some stuff out of Minions - I joined Cornwall MTB for a ride there a few months ago, route here - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=108580619908404806981.00047f918989483aae9c6&t=h&z=13.

Crispybacon might know some routes if he turns up in a bit ๐Ÿ™‚

Kaysee - Orena45's route is a good one I've ridden that route a few times now. You can extend it past Henwood and around the back of Sharp Tor if you want a longer ride.

Sorry I haven't got a GPS track of the route I'm an OS Map-man myself ๐Ÿ˜†

To be honest there isn't a fantastic amount of routes up on Bodmin Moor or if there are I haven't found them yet.

i had to abort a ride a dunmere recently when a gamekeeper showed up on the horizon with a landrover and a shotgun....best left alone at the moment IMO!

Thanks to all - ended up in Cardinham woods for a while, in the wet and slop. I've saved your Minions loop for future use though.

Cheers!
