Hi
Looking at buying a CAAD 8 as my first road bike but unsure what size to buy. I'm 5ft 10" with 30" inside leg. I've had a go on the 54cm frame and it felt ok but was advised that the 56cm might be a better option. They didn't have any in stock so couldn't try it. So if there are any CAAD owners on here what height are you and what size do you ride ?
Cheers
I ride 'Dales and I am the same height as you but with 32" inside leg.
I went from 56 to 54 on the advice of the Club Coach after a measuring/fitting session and found it much better.
My personal opinion is 56 will be too long for you. Go and get some more test rides in before you make your decision.
Thanks Pete, what size stem do you use ? Think the 54 with a slightly longer stem would be ideal.
100mm
6'1" and a bit here and I tried a 58 caad 8 the other week and it felt way too long. 56 felt spot on.
my m8 has just got one, he's 6'3" and rides a 58cm caad8.
hes only done a couple of hundred miles on it but no issues so far.
32" inside leg btw.
5 feet 9 inches, 30 inside leg riding a 54" 2010 CAAD 8. It seems almost right if snything very slightly large possibly because thenot far off horizontal top tube. I reckon a 54" would be perfect for you. I only just get about an inch clear standover - not the most important criteria (reach tending to be more important).
I'd guess that a 56 would seem like a gate when you consider the top tube angle as well.
I'm riding a 54cm & am 5' 8" with a 30" inseam - it's spot on for me.
6'1'' and ride a 58cm Synapse.
Had a 60cm CAAD something or other before that and it was a touch too big.
The 58cm is just perfect with a 120mm stem.
