[Closed] Any blokes riding a girly bike?

I used to commute and ride around London on a 1980s Raleigh Cameo. White wall tyres and all.

Awesome bike. Full mudguards, Sturmey, comfortable and almost theft proof.

Santa Cruzes ARE girly inasmuch as the frames for the Juliana women's bikes are no different bar a paint job.

I used to have a women's Lappiere Audacio road bike. It fitted me really well, I think it was just the saddle and the bar width that were different from the men's version.

Maybe check the geometry between mens and womens?

I ride a unisex step-thru framed Dutch/utility bike. It is unisex.

Except in the UK - where it gets laughed at by drunken men. 'AHAHARRR a WENCH boike!! ' <--- So barfed a witty older gent halfway in his cups outside the Forester's one night.

I fair skipped with glee to see his confused little eyes shining with joy at his own jape. I raised my pint to his and said 'it's unisex!' 'Cheers!'' *clink*. 'Haharrraarr, eh?'

Then right away he really quieted down and became drunkenly thoughtful. He looked briefly over his shoulder and frowned, whilst addressing the literal brick-wall behind him (as a friend), asking, reaaally softly in a rising, perfectly earnest pitch: 'whyzee goaaht ... [i]wench[/i] boike???'

When he turned back to me his eyebrows looked really happy (like far up and outwards) and he seemed to forget all about the bike/gender conundrum. Then I finished pint, said goodbye and cycled away. 'HaarrrAAHR!ghaaaah'. 'Eh?'

Sorry didn't really address yr Q, OP. But it's a true story 🙂

Moral of the story? If it fits, wear it and be [s]buggered[/s] damned!

If the geometry fits you, regardless of being a bloke or a woman, the Trott Mountain bike is cracking value for money at £430, 1x11 and Raidon fork.

I think the stonewashed rubeion is a much nicer colour than the Bronson. I'm very tempted.

I've just bought a Meta AM4 in purple/pink. About 15% cheaper than the black one.

My mate use to ride a women's dropped top rail type commuter all the time, his standard retort to p taking is "I'm pretty comfortable with my sexual identity, is yours so weak?"

I've just put a new Cotic together in 'Aqua' color. First thing my mate said when he saw it... 'had they run out of boys colors?'

I'm always drawn more towards the women's cycling shoes in bike shops. (Shrugs)

I've ridden it a couple of time & to be honest, I think it suits my body shape better than my Inbred....I wanna take it for a proper ride one day to see how it feels, but she won't let me....

Teen2 (male) rode XS ladies road and mtb bikes because the geometry fitted. Sold the road bike, but still have the mtb. And very nice it is too. If the geometry fits, and you like the colour, it's really irrelevant.

i was under the impression that the real ones with different geometry generally have shorter reach/top tube.
that could be a good thing depending on your preferance or body proportions i guess.

But then I usually ride in a pink leotard

I was close to getting a Rose Granite Chief in the black and pink - which was the ladies version - as the colour combo was nicer. The only difference was the configurator spat out female seats.

Went with a different model from Rose in the end but its still a nicer colour combo.

I've sometime had ladies trainers for the colour combo - when they do them in 9's & 10's; it's a bit different.

*not overtly ladies colours of course 😉
