Been considering a Giant Anthem X. Most likely the X2.

Anybody got any opinions?

Oh and anybody had any dealings with Cyclestore.co.uk (they have a Jan sale on them at the moment)

Hi Metalheart,

I bought a bike off cyclestore on the weekend. No e-mail yet or any email response to my enquiries. If i dont hear anything by thursday i'll give them a phone call. Did you buy your bike from them after? Has anyone else used them?

Not bought it yet.

Currently in negotiation with my preferred independent bike shop for an X1. Not as good a price but excellent service/set up.

Used cyclestore as bargaining chip. Shop reckoned that Giant will be mighty pissed with them and that he doubts that they will have stock to honour.

X2 currently on 8 week delivery.

Looks like the Anthem X will be popular (he's sold 2 this week and probably another 2, inc me, by the end of it).

really enjoying mine - Its super sweet on the single track. It does ride better than the old Anthem.

Go for the X1 - The spec is really good. There is nothing to replace or upgrade straight from the off.

Sorry should have said that there is someone with a new X1 on the forum I linked to above.I really quite like the idea of getting one of these myself.
I saw a deal on the frame only for £760,than I could swap all the bits across from my current ht.

Go for the X1
yeah I was thinking that (apart from the flat bars and tyres (for winter use...))

Demo'd an 18" X1 on Sunday.

Bit of a mixed bag as it was over completely new ground for me (and I took just about every wrong turn possible...) so don't know how it rides in comparison my other bike if you get my drift.

Plus it was my first post accident ride so was a little unsettled for the start anyways.

Nice bike though, 18" seems fine for a just shy of 6ft me and its a light 24 lbs. Will jump around like a spring lamb if you want it too! Forks were set a little quick on the rebound for me but didn't know how to fettle (and the rain started...).

Will need to demo again to be sure but the bike looks and feels good, and its a pretty damn impressive spec for the money.
