I know I need to go and try one etc, but as a rough guide on what others are using what size Anthem X frame for someone about the 5'6" - 5'7" mark ? Was thinking the small (16") was a no-brainer, but wondering whether it may be a bit short and I would even be borderline on Medium. Use would be Marathons and occassional XC racing.

I'm just over 5ft7 and went for the small 16" frame

I didn't get to test a medium but did test ride a small and it just felt right. I was already riding an XTC Composite in a small which was the exact same dimensions and geometry so it felt at home straight off.

I have a fair bit of seat post out - about 15mm off minimum insertion mark on a 375mm Thomson but it's comfortable for me.

I'm pretty sure Oli Beckingsale races a large and he's over 6 foot tall so a small should be fine for someone 5ft 7.

Good advice, Obviously I am concerned about the Small being too short, but equally concerned about not being able to get the bars down low enough on a Medium with the longer headtube

Adam Craig races a medium and he's 5ft 11 (admittedly in the carbon version but the geometry will be the same)

For 'most' people doing 'normal' riding, we suggest sizing down on the Anthem. Eg, smalls up to 5'8-ish, mediums up to 6'-ish. That's only ever a suggestion, mind.

For marathons and racing though, where presumably you're after speed and efficiency over outright technical prowess/control, you're probably best sticking with the medium.

Would I get the bars down low enough on a medium, I like to ride with the bars just below the level of the saddle
