Is it possible, for instance, to have a garmin ant+ HR strap providing info to both a watch and bike computer at the same time? Just thinking about brick training would be nice to be able to see my HR on an edge 500 and then seamlessly see it on a watch like an FR60 after getting off and onto the run.
Alternatively, how would the pairing work if both head units are in range? is it just first one gets the pairing and the other is out of luck?
Yes
It's just a dumb transmitter AFAIK
I've certainly had 2 Garmin units collecting from one chest strap simultaneously
It works fine - I've got an FR60 and an Edge and they'll both pair with the HRM and Speed/Cadence sensor simultaneously - it's the head unit that pairs to the sensor so they both pick up the signal that is sent from the sensor.
awesome thanks.
I think and FR60 and Edge 500 is going to be my new cycling / running training tech.
I was originally thinking about the new polar RCX5, but it's not ant+, which seems to be more widely supported, and on a road bike it's way better to glance down at bike computer rather then something on your wrist.
You could always use a 310xt to do it all if it's not too bulky for your wrist
I've got pretty girly wrists (for a bloke), I think a 310xt would be too big.
