Although I was looking for a hard tail, a mate has an S Works epic that he hasn't ridden for years that might fit the bill for me but he has no idea what he wants for it.

It's a 2005 M5 version, with the factory spec (Fox F100x, M960 XTR, Crossmax wheels, Thomson stem and post etc) and has had very little use in recent years.

Think it was over £3k new, but things have moved on a lot in 5 years so am unsure what to offer him.

Any thoughts?

I thought it was something like -50% for 1st year and 10% each year thereafter (until you get into retro bikes which is a whole different ball game)

50% then 10% every year is the golden rule. But as per post above, five years is long time. £5-600.

Have you checked ebay completed listings etc?

They were £4000 new IIRC, £500 if it's not been thrashed would be an absolute steal frankly, an entry level Rockhopper is over £700 now, even a 5 year old Epic with Crossmax SLs and full XTR isn't really comparable!

If I was selling that I'd be looking for over £1000 to be honest, and be very surprised not to get it!
