At last today I was finally able to make my 1:1 session with Tony.
Even tho I've read the previous threads about Tony and his coaching sessions, I didn't really know what to expect in terms of what he could do with me!!
My fitness is well below par and confidence was way low as well. I've been riding (badly) since the mid 90s and can honestly say that I've never got more out of a day than I did today. Again, thanks loads Tony.
Looking forward to the next session, just hope I can remember the wise words. 🙂
It sounds like you are in a similar position to me, a couple of decades worth of bad habits to undo! Stick at it, make time to session stuff and practice the techniques tony showed you, it soon becomes instinctive. I'm almost 9 months since my last coaching session and still feeling the progression. The days of REALLY enjoying your riding start now!
Hope so 🙂 ta
good aint it , i got out for the first time on saturday up swinley .. and was quicker and had more fun - and guess what Tony - No crashes and big jumps !! .. stand up straight eh ! 🙂
Another vote for Tony - I went for a session a couple of months back. I've now got that ****er permanently in my head when I ride 😀
lol@ scottishbadger 🙂
high5 guys!!
druff, loved watching you progress to that 🙂
Right - I want to do that next time 😉
i think i need to get me a jedi sesh sorted, table tops are no problem, gaps are another matter.
Jedi has his work cut out when I visit in August, I don't even know the difference between a table top and a gap.
plus I weigh the same as a chunky manitee, so physics apply x2 in my case, getting air is cause for a national holiday celebration.
With our first Alps trip on the horizon and being relatively new to the downhill game we wanted an all round appraisal of riding technique both on and off the ground & hopefully to challenge ourselves with some bigger than usual airtime. With the first Blue Sky & Sunshine in what felt like months, the smell of excitement & Nicaraguan coffee in the air, the stage for an epic day was truly set. We knew we were in for something special but little could prepare us for the progression, satisfaction we both came away with. I can honestly say a session with Tony has radically changed my approach and confidence to biking, taking the skills & natural ability I already had, applying simple yet effective changes though a coaching style that’s bespoke yet implicit, we had a learning experience I doubt can be beaten. Nuff Said. We are already talking about our next trip to Herts following a now much less apprehensive Alps trip this July! Can’t bloody wait mate! 🙂
Many thanks & much admiration to the Jedi
Over & Out....

if Jedi can get me in the air, he truly has The Force.
very much looking forward to it.
Slim, you'll be air bound for sure, I was a tad. 🙂
Slimjim, we'll see eh. 😉
Druff - great work! Saw on the blog that you did the corner into the 9ft gap jump later on - I did that when I saw Jedi but fancy a bit of the 12ft action next time! Was that any harder?!
Slimjim, Jedi managed to get me airborne so you'll have no problem.
Hughjayteens it's exactly the same, just different in your head...

Anyone can get you into the air, Jedi will get you back on the ground in one piece !
BTW we all love to talk about the airtime but as @teebs says it's the all round riding improvements which are most useful IMO.
Agree jambalaya, the all round improvements are great in particular for me, the cornering technique. Even tho I have no intention of doing the gap jumps, they do look impressive!

I can't wait until I get to go on September 5th! I might be the one unteachable person who Tony meets!!
bamboo, time will tell 😉
