[#5810219]

I'm looking to get a couple of 650B Light Cycle Carbon rims. There are two flavours of rim - a 23mm and 30mm internal rim version. I'm looking for something to replace my WTB i23. Will be running 2.4 tubless maxxis highrollers or 2.35 Schwalbe Hans Dampfs. So a couple of questions:
1) Given the weights of the rims are within 30g of each other what's the benefits of going to 30mm internal, and conversely what are the disadvantages.
2) What is the advantage of being "hookless" and again what is the disadvantage (can imaging it would cause more of an issue of tubeless tyres burping).

Thanks

The argument is that the hook weakens the rim and brings no benefits to the party anymore as when your running sealant for tubeless you really don't need it.

The 30mm internal rim versions are built with an improved technique which makes an allegedly stronger rim than the older 23/28mm versions.

I would buy wide and hookless.

I received my LB 650B hookless rims last week and have now built them up and had one ride on them.

They built up really easily - probably the easiest build I've ever done. The wider internal width means that there's more stability in the tyre under cornering loads which helps reduce burping. A wider rim can change the profile of the tyre though which may be a good or bad thing depending on the tyre (whether you can notice this or not is another thing altogether!).

I used to run the old process rims on my blur and never had an issue with them in 12 months of use. I'd recommend them definitely.

Cheers both.

Anyone any idea what size spokes I'd need on if I laced these up to Hope Pro II Evo hubs?

And how easy is build wheels - never done it myself so was going to get (pay) someone to do it for me.
