[#1741294]

I'm after some forks for my Cove G-Spot, and need some help.

The recommended travel is 150mm - 170mm and as before I have a fairly tight budget.

I currently have a few forks in my sight
Magura Wotan @ £499
RS Revs @ £324
Marzocchi 55RC3 @ £324
Rockshox 2009 Lyrik Coil U-Turn 115-160mm @ £499

Now these probably won't be the last forks I buy but I want something to at least get me going.

I'll be using my flexible friend to buy them on the never never so it's no use anyone offering me some bargain 2nd hand forks unless you take credit cards!

Are there any other forks I should be looking at, you can see my budget above?

Cheers 8)

The only way to do your frame justice is FOX 36 floats or vanillas
all the others I wouldn't even entertain

Aren't the fox's a bit of a nightmare to maintain, changing seals every 3 days, storing the bike in a gravity free environment etc?

Fox forks are the best by far
the only thing I do is after I wash the bike, which is not always after every ride is wipe fox float oil on stantions and under the seals
and then approx 18-24 months (depending on how much riding I do) send them to mojo for a service which costs approx £120

All I can find in my budget is some 'new' 2009 36 Vanillas, would they be good enough?

The Lyrik is a bargain at that price! Love mine and super reliable, never touch them - give them the odd wipe down and spray a bit of fork juice on now and then.

Thanks Chunky.

So if it was down to the fox 36 van R or the Lyrik coil both for the same money and I am ready to pull the trigger, which would it have to be?

Fox are nice but fancy Rockshox are nice but simple.

I would go rockshox as they are easier to home service and seem to go on a lot longer due to the semi bath.

I would go with the 55RC3's. Marzocchi coil forks seem to have a better action than the RS ones and quality was on the mend by 2009.

The Rock Shox 2010 Lyrik coil (170mm travel) is £517 with the extra 10% off at Merlin.

I have the Revs, they are great, but surely you want something more beefy on a G-Spot?
